Relief Nursing - Float

Brockton Hospital's Float Pool team is where flexibility and diversity define your clinical experience. As a valued member of our Float Pool, you'll have the opportunity to seamlessly navigate among our four medical-surgical units, bringing your skills to diverse patient populations. With telemetry integrated across all areas, your clinical expertise will extend to wound care, infusion, and pre- or post-procedures in endo, providing a well-rounded experience. For those seeking growth, our Float Pool offers the chance to receive specialized training in areas like PACU and CCU. Additionally, you may be assigned to specific units for periods of time to cover LOAs, allowing you to build lasting connections with various teams. Our staffing ratios are thoughtfully designed to ensure quality patient care, supported by clinical care assistants on all shifts.

Resource Nurse (RN) Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

  • Commits to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).

  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.

  • Rounds on high-risk patients by actual patient assessment and brief chart review. The basis for this will be patients with high Klews’ scores, surveillance flags for sepsis, other patient concerns and administrative coordinator direction

  • Will touch base with nursing staff who are on orientation to review patients, educate staff and offer guidance and support

  • Will touch base with fledgling nurses to review patients, support staff and offer guidance and suggestions for patient management

  • Knowledge of hospital policies and practices to support clinical care at the bedside

  • Interact with providers and bedside nurses to assure timely management of acute changes in patient condition

  • Will respond to all rapid responses, code blue, code crimson and other emergency responses during their shift

  • Will model and support expert nursing practice at the bedside

  • Identifies needs of off shift nursing and develops plans to assist in meeting these needs

  • Documents in the patient record if direct care has been provided

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    Required

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing

  • BLS & PALS (or ACLS & PALS) required.

    Preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing with Critical Care or Emergency Department Care preferred.

  • TNCC or TCAR preferred.

  • BSN preferred.

  • Software/Hardware: Experience with Meditech preferred. Ability to use Microsoft office products preferred.
