State of Massachusetts Intake & Outpatient Clinician in Brockton, Massachusetts
The Department of Mental Health's Brockton Multi Service Center (BMSC) is seeking an experienced Clinician to fill a dual role as an Intake Clinician and an Outpatient Therapist. The identified candidate will be responsible for providing therapy to a caseload of clients for the BMSC Outpatient Department. The identified candidate will also be responsible for completing intake assessments for the BMSC Intake Department. The identified candidate will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive services to adults individuals living in the community in a variety of settings. The Intake & Outpatient Clinician is responsible for leading trauma informed, person centered assessments & treatment planning activities and ensuring the interventions utilize evidence raised interventions &/or best practices, when clinically appropriate. Will provide face-to-face services to assigned persons in a variety of settings and areas of focus will include engagement, assessment & treatment planning, risk mitigation, skill building, support through life & care transitions, health monitoring, and integration with care coordination entities. The Outpatient and Intake Departments coordinate with programs within DMH as well as community providers. The identified candidate must have well developed organizational skills and be a motivated, self-starter with excellent communication skills. Additionally, the identified candidate must demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to program needs in order to support operations of both the Intake and Outpatient departments. _Please Note_: This position is 40 hours per week on the day shift 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Days off: Saturday and Sunday. _Duties and Responsibilities (these are not all inclusive):_ * Performs psychodiagnostic evaluations of the mental disorders of current or prospective clients by conducting intake interviews, investigating clients’ histories through contact with schools, courts, community groups, families, other agencies, and providers, etc., and determining the need for and type of services the client should receive. * Participates in the development of the initial treatment plan for clients that is based on the clinical assessment completed during the intake process and presents those findings at the weekly disposition meeting. * Makes referrals within the agency based on clinical presentation and community-based needs. * Coordinates the assembly of the client record for all new clients and tracks the necessary documentation for opening a new record. * Provide psychotherapy, supportive counseling, outreach and case work to adults and families through consistent contact and treatment planning to decrease personal distress and increase ability to cope and communicate by managing schedule that promotes at least fifty percent of working hours of billable contact is completed each week. * Assesses and responds to crisis and emergency situations by intervening immediately with appropriate clinical treatment or referral. * Assumes responsibility for clinical record documentation requirements by recording in the record in a thorough and timely manner so that other providers are aware of treatment provided and so that the clinical record follows agency standards. This includes ensuring data is entered into CARe and MHIS. * Provides short term and group treatment to those individuals when it is the clinically recommended mode of care. * Engages in supervision processes (provided by an LICSW) as well as team/staff meetings as scheduled/needed. _Preferred Qualifications_: * Previous experience working with people with chronic mental illness. * Bi-lingual preferred. _Brockton Multi Service Center Mission Statement:_ The Brockton Multi Service Center provides comprehensive services to mentally ill adults and children. REQUIRED EDUCATION: A Master's or higher degree in social work. LICENSES: Based on assignment, travel may be required. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
