PNC Fraud/AML Sr. Data Scientist - Model Owner in Brock, United States

As a Sr. Data Scientist within PNC's Anti Money Laundering organization, you can sit in Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH; Birmingham, AL; Raleigh, NC; or Charlotte, NC.

This position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at manager’s discretion.

Duties

• Assist with establishing strategic direction for PNC’s AML modeling tools that may include behavior detection, sanctions screening, forecasting, operations, and other automation tools.

• Identify and capitalize upon synergies between models and data sets to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency of the AML modeling program.

• Coordinate with the modeling, model risk management, AML risk management, and AML operations team to set priorities, comply with development and validation procedures, foster stakeholder buy-in, and address modeling performance issues.

• Review and approve development steps for assigned AML models.

• Review and approval all model documentation for assigned models.

• Monitor model performance and recommend compensating measures as appropriate.

• Assist with representing AML modeling function at working groups and committee meetings.

• Assist with representing AML modeling function in regulatory, internal audit, and model risk management reviews.

Required Experience

• Undergraduate degree in statistics, economics, financial modeling, data science, or mathematics.

• Three years of experience in the construction, testing, and application of regression, decision tree, and machine learning models.

  • Leads the implementation of analytical projects that leverage vast amounts of structured and unstructured data to extract actionable business insights.

  • Directs the data gathering, data processing and data mining of large and complex datasets.

  • Leads the development of algorithms using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques like machine learning to predict business outcomes and recommend optimal actions to management.

  • Leads analytical experiments in a methodical manner to find opportunities for product and process optimization. Presents business insights to management using visualization technologies and data storytelling.

  • Partners with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Experts to develop data-driven solutions for the business.

Query and Database Access Tools – Knowledge of and the ability to use, support and access facilities for extracting and formatting a database management system.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
