Red Hat Senior Systems Administrator - Community Platform Engineering in Brno, Czech Republic

Red Hat’s Community Platform Engineering team seeks a senior systems administrator for managing a diverse community infrastructure and services the Fedora (https://fedoraproject.org/) (https://pagure.io/projects/fedora-infra/%2A https://gitlab.com/fedora/ https://github.com/fedora-infra/) and CentOS (https://www.centos.org/) (https://gitlab.com/CentOS/) communities. This position works within a team of systems, development, and design engineers that support free/open source projects in our communities. The Senior Systems Administrator job duties include working with team and community members on existing infrastructure, architecting new infrastructure, deploying/maintaining services, working alongside developers on new and existing services,

Due to the nature of free/open source software communities and the team being distributed globally, this role requires some flexibility in scheduling work meetings, interactions, and communications.

What you will do

  • Work with staff and community members globally in open source project communication channels.

  • Project and task planning with the team regularly.

  • Install and maintain community participation resources (gitforge, mailing list management, etc..)

  • Install and maintain operational resources (monitoring, ansible playbooks, VMs/cloud resources/bare metal machines, logging, etc..)

  • Security auditing and response around community infrastructure.

  • Build relationships with other community members, internal technology and operational teams

  • Triage tickets assigned to the group, resolve, and if necessary, escalate.

  • Perform other tasks as requested

What you will bring

  • Proven experience actively contributing and/or maintaining free/open source software in open communities.

  • Experience working constructively and collaboratively with free/open source software projects.

  • Strong experience as a Linux system administrator, system analyst, systems engineer, or software designer/architect where the focus is on infrastructure, resilience, and security.

  • Experience with open source collaboration and workflow tools such as git, Matrix/IRC, mailing lists, github, gitlab etc..

  • Experience with AWS/Cloud management

  • Experience with multiple hardware architectures such as risc-v, aarch64, x86_64, etc..

  • Strong experience with Red Hat technologies and established track record with other free/open source software contributions.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of modern software development, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery, and infrastructure-as-code

  • Experience with troubleshooting complex issues, especially in (highly) automated and distributed environments

  • Knowledge of OpenShift/k8s deployment and management

Beneficial skills & experience

  • Red Hat Certifications, such as RHCSA, RHCE

  • Understanding of the concepts of high availability and disaster recovery

  • Knowledge of testing automation frameworks and tools

  • Proficient development experience with Python, Go and/or C.
