Caterpillar’s Services and Solutions (CS&S) group, part of the Resource Industries Sales, Services, and Technology division is currently seeking a Fleet Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for fulfilling customer's specific contractual commitments in a profitable manner. These commitments include specific deliverables in equipment management, production optimization, safety, sustainability, and financial performance. You will work directly with customer executive management, plant management, and equipment operators. You will have primary responsibility for managing the Dealer partnership assuring strong relations and profitable Dealer results. You will be responsible for covering the Western Canada territory. Contract portfolio will range from $30-$100MM with expected customer value generation in the $500K - $2MM annual range.

What you will do:

  • Leading customer engagements and providing matrix leadership for contract execution.

  • Achieving alignment of various parties at Caterpillar, Dealers, and key end-user personnel.

  • Partnering with Dealer personnel to direct the day-to-day activity related to contractual commitments at each site contract.

  • Successfully delivering on all areas of contractual commitments by utilizing a complete understanding of Caterpillar and Dealer Capability.

  • Providing a clear vision for success and driving high levels of execution to achieve our commitments through your deep subject matter expertise in equipment management, production optimization, safety, sustainability, and financial structuring.

  • Providing and applying solutions to problems in a customer-working environment.

  • Working with Caterpillar Product Groups and other internal Business Units to completely understand the technical and operational capabilities of our equipment, technology, and services.

  • Creating innovative new value-added capabilities to improve site operations in a manner that Caterpillar and Dealers can grow profitability and reduce risk.

What skills you will have:

Technical Excellence: Direct field experience working with dealers and customers in the mining or construction industry. Working knowledge of technology products, financial products, machine lifecycle and economics, product support, condition monitoring, labor relations, safety, and environment operations.

Products and Services: Deep product knowledge, application experience with equipment and production technologies, and the ability to successfully manage contracts to profitability. Demonstrated deep subject matter expertise and experience in the management of equipment fleets or direct responsibility for maintenance & repair contract management.

Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and the ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. Understanding of Caterpillar Dealer coverage and operations.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Effective Communications: Superior communication skills – both written and verbal – that range from operational and technical discussions to Dealer Principal and Executive presentations.

Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Relationship Management: Superior relationship-building skills and the ability to execute through a team of Caterpillar, Dealer, and Customer personnel.

Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

This position may require 50 -75 % travel.
