Facilities Worker

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES The purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance of parks and facilities for the city of Bristol, Tennessee General Services Department. Performs custodial duties, grounds keeping and repair for buildings, parks, athletic fields and other facilities. Ensures a safe, pleasant experience for residents and visitors of Bristol.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains parks and facilities: changes and updates electrical equipment, plumbing and fencing; repairs water lines and clears drains; changes locks and doorknobs.
  • Maintains HVAC systems; installs and maintains heating units, air conditioners and refrigeration units.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and diagnostic activities related to HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Operates high and low voltage electrical equipment throughout the City's buildings and facilities.
  • Assists with the installation and repair of all electrical components, generators and switch gear systems.
  • Assists in the installation and repair of all drainage systems and supply water lines.
  • Assists with construction projects, including footer preparation, building layout, pouring of concrete, framing, sheeting and shingling.
  • Performs grounds maintenance for City grounds; mows, trims, maintains trees, and performs other landscaping duties.
  • Completes custodial duties in City buildings, including cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, and buffing.
  • Maintains athletic fields; grooms infields, chalks fields, maintains sand and clay, mows and treats weeds, moves equipment.
  • Removes debris and changes trash can liners throughout the parks and facilities.
  • Performs general maintenance, including painting, pressure washing, snow removal, building inspections, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED, supplemented by one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a custodial, grounds crew or maintenance position, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
  • Excellent work history and attendance record.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Commercial driver's license preferred.
