The Opportunity

In this position you are responsible for the design, specification and engineering services related to structures and foundations made of concrete, steel, wood, composites, other engineered products or shaped natural landforms, including for buildings, platforms, retention and drainage structures, pipe racks and similar infrastructure.

Whilst in the role you will devise new approaches to problems encountered. The position requires the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes related to structures and foundations along with detailed and complex involvement in all aspects of design such as contributing to and/or performing studies and designs, preparing specifications and providing consulting services in the structural engineering field. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, civil and other engineers in delivery of projects and proposals for a range of clients and infrastructure types.

Who are you?

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate comprehensive practical and theoretical knowledge in the discipline of structural engineering and can technically lead a project structural engineering team to deliver major work packages for a large multi-disciplinary project according to scope, budget and schedule.

Other requirements:

  • Ability to prepare and verify design calculations (including self-checking) using either manual methods or with the aid of computer applications such as Space Gass, RAPT or Strand7

  • Ability to guide and advise more junior and mid-career engineers, designers and drafters in the preparation of models, designs, drawings and to undertake review of these drawings

  • Competence in preparing and reviewing reports and technical specifications

  • Ability to liaise with peers, subordinates, clients, suppliers, statutory authorities and other consultants

  • Possess or eligible and willing to obtain CPEng and RPEQ or equivalents within 6 months
