Position classification

Hybrid -- Job duties and expectations allow for onsite and remote work scheduled every week. Employees in this classification are regularly scheduled onsite one (1) to four (4) days per week based on the County needs and as determined by Department Director. Hybrid classified roles can be onsite more than the set minimum based on employee preference.

The Adams County Parks, Open Space & Cultural Arts Department is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team and assist in bringing the County’s Vision -Adams County is the most innovative and inclusive county in America for all families and businesses; and the Department’s Vision - To significantly enhance quality of life, enrich communities & INSPIRE! - to life. If selected, you will assist all planning, coordination, and management activities of the County’s special events for the Parks, Open Space & Cultural Arts Department. This includes but is not limited to providing support to various planning efforts for the department, assisting in the Adams County Fair and other Community events, liquor concessions, and all contracted events at the Adams County Riverdale Regional Park and other county facilities. Assist the Special Events Manager in all events, logistics for the County and the community. Recruit, retain and supervise all Beverage staff. Create schedules based off event set up and tear down needs. Maintain maintenance (cleaning) schedules for furniture and equipment. Supervise all beverage operations including meeting with clients to determine event needs, ordering product, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Financial management, including weekly deposits and budget control, while ensuring product and service standards are met and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency. Coordinate with all food and beverage vendors for the annual Adams County Fair, ensuring proper licensing and fees are in accordance with Local and State laws.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Assist in the develop, coordination and direction of the organization and operational activist of the division.

  • Assist in the planning, coordination and management of all activists and special events held at the Adams County Regional Park and other county events.

  • Responsibilities include being listed on the liquor license as well as ensuring compliance with all liquor board hearings and requests.

  • Participate in the selection of event services staff; provide or coordinate training; work with staff to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.

  • Assist in the development for the sponsorship program to ensure financial suitability of county events.

  • Coordinate with Adams County Sheriff's Department to ensure bar and event staff comply with all State and Local beverage laws, service rules, and alcohol awareness standards.

  • Monitor and manage budget for event services, including but not limited to: liquor service, table service, equipment needs, and staffing. Maintain budgeted beverage cost goal and implement cost increases as needed and as the market will allow.

  • Order all beverages and maintain beverage inventory including revenue management. Produce and present financial reports to Special Events Manager weekly.

  • Plan and implement cost control measures, systems, and policies to maximize sales and revenue.

  • Responsible for maintaining records on large amounts of cash and accurately issuing banks and submitting deposits.

  • Produce and present strategic plans for beverage service at all county produced events to maximize revenue growth while upholding all Local and State laws to ensure safe events for all patrons.

  • Coordinate with all food and beverage vendors during the Adams County Fair by contracting, collecting payment, assisting in layout, gathering appropriate power and water needs, and ensuring all Local and State Health laws are being followed.

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Exercises direct supervision over staff.

Qualifications for Success

  • Possession of a TIPS Certificate and be a certified trainer.

  • Possess a positive attitude and a passion for excellence and guest satisfaction.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Be a problem-solver, self-starter, and resourceful individual who is able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, and hands on environment.

  • Skill in anticipating needs and problems and providing viable solutions for individual events.

  • Experience in the management of a bar or beverage service operation.

  • Complete working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • Knowledge of business management principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.

  • Knowledge of cost control procedures.

  • Knowledge of administrative procedures.

  • Knowledge of relevant computer applications.

  • Knowledge of personnel management.

  • Knowledge of conflict management techniques.

  • Ability to prepare reports and general correspondence.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with facility users, employees, security personnel, and the public; establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

  • Willingness and Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on fairgrounds rental schedule.

More Qualifications for Success

Education and Training: A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Event Management, or related field is preferred.

Experience: Requires a minimum of 3 years experience in large scale event and facilities event management.

License of Certificate:

  • TIPs Certification required.

  • Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate valid driver’s license required.

    Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.

    Other: Must pass liquor license background check and must be named as an officer on the liquor license.
