Position classification

Hybrid -- Job duties and expectations allow for onsite and remote work scheduled every week. Employees in this classification are regularly scheduled onsite one (1) to four (4) days per week based on the County needs and as determined by Department Director. Hybrid classified roles can be onsite more than the set minimum based on employee preference.

What Success Looks Like In This Job

Under limited supervision, perform multiple complex operations, project management, and administrative tasks for the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC). In addition, provide exemplary customer service support in the form of responding to inquiries from elected officials, constituents, external partners, and executive staff and other teammates. The individual in this position may handle a wide variety of confidential and difficult situations that require tact, discretion, and the ability to keep moving forward. Sense of humor required!

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Event Management. Partner with the Chief of Staff to:

  • Plan the logistics and operation for all events attended by or hosted by the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC)

  • Staff County Commissioners at events

  • Constituent Services:

  • Respond to resident complaints by coordinating with appropriate County staff.

  • Administrative Tasks. Partner with the BoCC Executive Assistant to:

  • Schedule and maintain calendars for County Commissioners

  • Schedule and coordinate travel and other logistical matters for County Commissioners

  • Prepare and process expense reports and perform other administrative/clerical duties as needed

  • Teamwork:

  • Serve as a back up for the Clerk to the BoCC and the BoCC Executive Assistant.

  • Perform special projects and assignments as requested.

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications for Success

  • Digital skillset: Highly proficient in computer software such as Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Attention to detail: Ability to pay close attention to detail to ensure the completeness and accuracy of work performed by oneself and/or others.

  • Follow through: Ability to work without close supervision and ensure that work tasks are completed on time and with high quality.

  • Communication: Ability to speak with a variety of audiences in a clear, concise, and organized manner to effectively convey information.

  • Project management: Schedule and coordinate projects; set priorities; adapt to changing priorities.

  • Teamwork: Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with all team members; work cooperatively with other departments, County officials, and outside agencies.

  • Decision making: Analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

More Qualifications for Success

  • Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • College degree in Business Administration or a related field is a plus.

  • Experience:At least three (3) years of experience in operations and or supporting executive level leaders. Prior experience working on a political campaign and or working with elected officials is a plus.

  • License or Certificate:None.

  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
