GAI Consultants has a career-building opportunity for a Project Civil Engineer 1 within our Power Business Unit's Civil and Environmental Engineering Business Sector. This position is eligible for GAI's flexible Hybrid workplace place/Telework Policy. This position will be based out of GAI's Bridgeport, WV; Charleston, WV; or Glen Allen, VA offices. GAI's Power Business Unit focuses on developing and supporting Energy, Institutional, Industrial, and Manufacturing clients. Job Duties: Plans, designs, and facilitates civil engineer project design tasks such as site grading and drainage design; access road design; erosion and sediment pollution control design; stormwater management design; report preparation; and permitting. Performs technical and feasibility studies. Collaborates with other professionals and discusses requirements with team members. Uses computer programs to develop detailed designs. Ensures that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements. Performs work with minimal guidance and supervision. Handles complex issues and refers only the most complex issues to more experienced staff. Possesses strong working knowledge of civil engineering design tasks and a positive attitude. Possesses strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules. Performs moderate to complex civil design tasks while delegating more routine tasks to staff with less experience. Mentor, guide and check the work of less experienced staff. Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, design expertise, and problem-solving skills are required. Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting their practice and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of projects. Leads projects of moderate complexity and scope or leads a major project. Analyzes complex problems across specialty areas appropriate to the practice of engineering. Analyzes ethical dilemmas to determine appropriate courses of action. Minimum Years of Experience 10+ Years of Civil Engineering Experience Education B.S. or M.S. Civil Engineering or related field Certification/Licensure Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states. Technical Responsibilities Occasionally serves as the technical advisor in the application of advanced concepts and methods in an assigned area. Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the practice for the purpose of recommending changes in projects or applications. Occasionally develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products. Project and Task Management Oversees a project team of engineers and technicians. Plans, schedules, and coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects. Analyzes project management plans for complex engineering projects.
