CoreCivic Director, Instructional Design in Brentwood, Tennessee

Base Salary: $95,000 - $100,000 annually

The Director, Instructional Design (CoreCivic University) is responsible for the design, development, and program management of CoreCivic University and its' individual colleges by collaborating with senior leadership and CoreCivic University leadership. Directs the content and curriculum development, faculty development and evaluation of effectiveness. Manages multiple projects to include financial oversight and resource allocation with a focus on CoreCivic University's strategies, commitments and goals. Manages full-scale project plans, learning and development roadmaps and financial models; performs quality audits, and provides associated communications. In conjunction with CoreCivic University leadership, the Director recommends end-to-end learning processes, i.e. learning evaluation, program design, development, and delivery. Manages CoreCivic University programs at various locations to include classroom, e-Learning and blended learning sessions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.

  • Researches, plans, organizes and facilitates CoreCivic University programs, seminars, and conferences to support team, individual, management, and functional development activities.Monitors and reports on effectiveness of programs.

  • Coordinates and conducts need analyses with CoreCivic senior management to identify and define current and future learning and development needs; formulates and develops plans, procedures and programs to meet specific needs and requests.

  • Conducts and manages large scale instructional design of modules and programs to support overall CoreCivic University curricula. Manages subject matter experts and external training and development partners throughout the process.

  • Designs, plans and implements internal faculty development programs; aligns training with CoreCivic University's strategic objectives, commitments and goals.Maintains current knowledge for instructor trends, best practices and standards.Monitors and evaluates development program for effectiveness.

  • Ensures the CoreCivic University efforts embrace and incorporate diversity, cultural sensitivity and needs, and are delivered to ensure access and equity to all our employees regardless of location or accessibility challenges.

  • Designs Instructor Led Training (ILT), e-Learning, and blended material for new programs; reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs; recommends appropriate revisions in a cost-effective manner and within budget limits.

  • Designs and administers learning and development measurement plans, including surveys and focus groups.Applies tested instructional design theories, practice and methods.

  • Maintains records of all learning and development programs/participants with related personnel information; provides special reports when required.

  • Manages ambiguity and creates a roadmap where one may not currently exist.Manages shifting deadlines in a fast paced environment.

  • Solicits support from Subject Matter Experts for content creation, delivery and knowledge transfer.

  • Domestic U.S. travel is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or an acceptable related field is required.

  • Five years of progressive learning and development experience within a corporate environment: training, facilitating, organizational development with all modalities and methods of training delivery (i.e., in person, virtual, and/or hybrid approaches).

  • Experience must include three years leadership experience in end-to-end learning design and learning program managementwith senior level leaders.

  • Must understand the connection between business initiatives/objectives and learning and development within an organization. Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models, lesson and curriculum planning skills are required.

  • Must have experience coaching leaders. Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development software (i.e., Camtasia, Articulate, Captivate, etc.) is required.

  • Experience with Cornerstone LMS systems preferred. ATD, PMI, SHRM, certifications preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
