Title LAN Engineer - Senior Category Information Technology Description In compliance with The Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities Act, the salary range for this role is $80,000 - $105,000. However, Sawdey Solution Services, Inc. will consider several factors when extending an offer to an applicant. The Telecommunications Network Engineer - Senior analyzes and develops telecommunications networks supporting a wide range of capabilities, including voice, data, video, and/or wireless services. Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To: Closely coordinates with other information system professionals to ensure proper implementation of network services. In conjunction with functional users, develops alternative solutions and backup plans. Makes recommendations, if needed, for approval of major network installations. Identifies high level design requirements for the backbone to include redundancy, maintainability and disaster recovery requirements. Assist in the development of CONOPS (Concept of Operations), disaster recovery, and contingency operations plans. Identifies the detailed design requirements for the backbone to include server locations, user locations, projected traffic flows between devices, layer three devices, and layer four protocols (Transmission Control Protocol). Designs, implements, and sustains solutions to include the following: Overall topology (switch interconnection locations, COOP (Continuity of Operations Plan) scenarios, etc.) Layer two design: spanning tree, trunking, and speeds Operational Information: node addressing and server addressing (if changes are required) QoS (Quality of Service) Switchport level access controls and notifications Streaming video IP protocols Wireless LAN (Local Area Network) IPv6 assessment and integration plan 802.1x - protocols and appliances DNS/DHCP appliances WIDS (Wireless Intrusion Detections) Troubleshoots, administers, and maintains the following: OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) Model Layers 1-7 Network Protocols, including IPv6 and IPv4 (TCP, UDP, ICMP, IGMP, ARP, AH, ESP, and VRRP) IEEE Standards: 802.1x, 802.1Q, 802.1s, 802.1D, 802.1W, 802.1ax, 802.3, and 802.11 Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting Protocols, including TACACS+ and RADIUS Provides high-level problem diagnosis, i.e., data capture and analysis in resolving LAN problems for both internal and external DLA Enterprise Data Solutions and Enterprise Network Infrastructure customers, with technical representatives both commercial and government to resolve all network related problems. An example of a commercial entity would be Cisco technical support. Provides call-in support on an as needed basis and participates in the DLA, Information Operations Regional network infrastructure on-call rotation. After hours call back may be automated and controlled through these locations and Enterprise infrastructure Remedy incident reporting system. Provide on call support approximately every two (2) weeks. Typically, the on-call support personnel receive one (1) call per week, 50% of which require on-site support. Provides support with ensuring appropriate audit logs are captured and stored. Applies security requirements to the operating system for the NE (Network Environment) and CE (Computing Environment) used in their current position, per STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guidelines).
