Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Serves as the primary resource for the clinical staff of the assigned Franciscan Health System (FHS) work unit(s) to procure supplies/equipment needed for patient care. Facilitates overall unit maintenance and environmental safety/compliance to ensure regulatory compliance. Work includes activities such as 1) making regular rounds of the unit to identify and address conditions/issues that do not meet established standards, malfunctioning equipment and supply level issues; 2) training/orienting staff with respect to supplies, equipment, safety and infection control procedures; 3) maintaining records, databases, spreadsheets, logs and related information for tracking, quality assurance or regulatory purposes; 4) participating in budget administration activities; and 5) representing the unit on various committees (e.g., Safety Committee).

Work requires significant resourcefulness and initiative in meeting the needs of clinical staff in a timely manner and in addressing diverse tasks and competing priorities in accordance with accepted practices. An employee works independently and is expected to deliver on a wide variety of requests, using all available avenues to achieve the desired result. If assigned to a specialty unit, work requires knowledge of (or ability to learn) specialty practices.

Essential Duties:

  • Serves as the point-person for requests from clinical staff for supplies or equipment needed for patient care and safety, ensuring clinical supplies are stocked and readily available.

  • Assures equipment is clean, functioning properly, and at the appropriate location.

  • Makes scheduled surveillance rounds of the assigned work unit(s) to monitor adherence to environmental safety, cleanliness, infection control, risk management and related standards, procedures, and/or regulatory requirements; takes necessary steps to resolve issues (within defined scope of responsibility) in accordance with established procedures.

  • Represents the assigned work unit(s) at committees and/or meetings to keep abreast of general issues, communicates work unit specific information and receives new/revised standards/procedures/protocols.

  • Participates in new hire training/orientation and in-servicing of current staff.

  • Provides input into the development of the supply and equipment budget. Participates in the implementation and monitoring of the budget.

  • Maintains an organized and safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s safety, risk management, regulatory standards and infection prevention. Keeps abreast of trends, developments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.

  • Participates in quality assurance/improvement initiatives and activities. Participates in growth opportunities.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree in Health Sciences or related field, and two years of recent related clinical support (or equivalent) work experience, preferably within the assigned clinical specialty area.

Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Pay Range

$24.59 - $33.81 /hour
