Location/Division Specific Information

We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen currently, with about 500 employees, whose “high-end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Scientist to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Bremen. As a Technical Lead for new product developments, you will play a crucial role in driving innovation and leading the development of new products within an existing platform.

As a key member of our R&D team, you will have the chance to moderate, lead, and facilitate product development projects and collaborate with our global network of sites, where different perspectives and talents come together to achieve common goals.

Your primary focus will be on guiding, supporting, and leading a talented team of technical professionals, helping them to prioritize experiments and analyze data to solve complex technical problems. Working closely with our product management team, you will play a vital role in deriving detailed technical specifications and overseeing all stages of product development, from initial research to final production.

In this role, you will have the responsibility to drive critical technical decisions, while also creating an environment that encourages an effective, collaborative, and inclusive approach of decision-making with your colleagues: Create an environment where colleagues feel empowered to contribute their insights and expertise. Take charge for planning, executing, and documenting experiments, ensuring comprehensive verification test plans and test summary reports. Provide guidance and support to scientists, software engineers, and mechanical and electrical engineers in developing sub-system requirement specifications, fostering effective, creative collaboration and communication among cross-functional teams.

As an integral part of the project cycle, you will coordinate seamless knowledge transfer to our operations, product support, and field service teams, enabling them to effectively support the newly developed instruments.

  • Lead and empower a diverse team of skilled technical professionals, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment to successfully execute the project.

  • Cultivate a culture of high experimental quality and deep theoretical understanding across all aspects of product development, from research to serial production.

  • Embrace and overcome complex or novel issues by leveraging creative, divers' perspectives and developing solutions and execution strategies.

  • Playing an important role in the product development process by creating and maintaining comprehensive and transparent documents.

  • Utilize intellectual property (IP) principles, rules, and strategies to effectively protect novel inventions, and write patents, publications, and presentations.

  • Effectively communicate development progress verbally and in writing ensuring clear and concise updates to superiors and higher management.

  • Serve as a representative of the company by positive and productive interactions with external customers and collaborators.

Experience & Education

  • Demonstrate a track record of 4 years of industrial experience in development of sophisticated analytic instrumentation, following the completion of a Doctoral degree in technical discipline, showcasing your expertise and dedication in the field.

  • Expert knowledge of scientific principles in Fourier-transform mass spectrometry is an advantage.

  • Any previous experience in a technical leadership role is highly appreciated, as it demonstrates your ability to effectively lead and inspire a team.
