We are currently hiring a Continuous Improvement Manager in our Breinigsville, PA brewery. Boston Beer Company is in a period of rapid growth, and we need to develop our manufacturing capability to meet the increasing market demand.  To accomplish this, we are building a culture of Operational Excellence through our Unrivaled Performance (UP) program.  UP is based on the highly successful Integrated Work Systems (IWS) method and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).  Unrivaled Performance is uniquely adapted to our culture to be a highly agile, innovation-centric manufacture of the best beer and beyond.  Through applying the principles and tools of UP we will significantly increase capacity and develop agility to meet the growing demand of our diverse portfolio of products. This will be a journey to bring processes, skill sets, and tools to the hands of all our brewery team members.  We are looking for the right mix of energy, skills, experience, and drive to complete this journey with the highest of quality. The Focused Improvement Manager is focused on developing our co-worker's ability to have accurate, real-time data and use that data to drive out inefficiencies through rigorous root cause analysis.  This is a cross-functional leadership role that supports the shopfloor, the operational leaders and process engineers.  You are an expert in both the data systems and tools of root cause analysis. What You'll Brew: Set the long term strategic vision and growth strategy for the brand. Supports the shopfloor by leading and coaching on the floor, spending 50% of their time engaged with on-the-floor activities. Is the subject matter expert in Loss Tree Analysis, Rate Analysis, Loss Coding, data interpretation and data sources for manufacturing loss analysis.  Builds effective tools for precision loss analysis within manufacturing operation. In the subject matter expert in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Initial Problem Solving (IPS), Unified Problem Solving (UPS), 5-why analysis.  Can teach, coach and certify other leaders and co-workers in these tools. Establishes effective relationships at all levels.  Can influence for impact and change. Conducts training and certification on Focused Improvement tools; leads or in a key member of the Focused Improvement Pillar Interfaces with IT, Power BI, and MES teams to ensure effective data collection and reporting.  Represents operational needs for loss analysis to these teams. Drives strong adoption at all levels of the organization of Unrivaled Performance / Integrated Working Systems methodology. Level: 6 In accordance with pay transparency lawsthe salary range for this role if hired is $71,200  - 135,000.00 annually based on location and the experience level of the candidate. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance. Certain sales positions are also eligible for car allowance What Ingredients You'll Bring: Minimum Qualifications: 4-7 years in progressive operational and process engineering roles Proven ability with implementing lean processes on the shopfloor Has strong understanding of Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM), World Class Manufacturing (WCM), or Integrated Works Systems (IWS). Proven ability to promote the adoption of standardized processes and systems Proven ability to foster a collaborative work environment across the supply chain and full business Proven track record of learning, designing, and implementing good business process and systems Proven track record in leading continuous improvement initiatives resulting in sustained results and embedded behaviors across complex manufacturing environments Relevant financial acumen in supply chain finance Relevant experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Power BI Preferred Qualifications: Direct Leadership of both Operations and Maintenance/Reliability Departments Six Sigma certif cation (Black Belt, Green Belt) Experience in consumer-packaged goods industry Ability to endure on a daily basis, excessive walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, lifting (Not to exceed 50 lbs.), twisting, climbing, reaching While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, climb flights of stairs, work from elevated areas, and wear personal protective equipment. It may be required that this position be capable of wearing a respirator. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate hand tools and industrial machinery such as a forklift.
