Burns & McDonnell Staff Architect - Aviation & Federal (Brea, CA) in Brea, California

Description

The Staff Architect will be working with a team of architects, designers, and engineers to create world class designs on a variety of projects including aviation, government, and military from concept design through completion of construction. Burns & McDonnell provides wide-ranging A-E services for the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), and other federal agencies. Our global portfolio of federal work includes projects and programs completed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, National Guard Bureau, Architect of the Capitol, Department of Agriculture, Department of State, Environmental Protection Agency, General Services Administration, NASA, and the Veterans Administration. We also support DOE management and operating contractors at 18 DOE sites. Our ability to provide a comprehensive range of services to support diverse project requirements provides added value to our clients. Conceives, designs, and prepares working drawings for new or modified structures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily supervision of design and technical development of projects.

  • At the outset of each project or assignment, prepare a project budget scenario and track hours spent on project.

  • Prepare suggestions for staffing requirements and production to keep project performance on track.

  • Define, along with the project manager, the productivity and profit goals for each assigned project.

  • Work directly with project managers in the conceptual development of the project assignments.

  • Develop effective client relationships in bringing projects to fruition.

  • Keep design support team productive and efficient in production of the project.

  • Responsible for check set review, code compliance and risk management review of assigned projects.

  • Works with contractors to price, bid, and construct projects.

  • Must perform a variety of complicated problem-solving tasks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture from an NAAB accredited program.

  • Minimum 4 years of related experience (5 years preferred). Completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.

  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Proficient in Revit and other rendering / visualization software.

  • Demonstrated progress toward becoming a Registered Architect.

Compensation

$95,000.00-130,000.00 Annually

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
