Job Description:
This position provides the opportunity to work with the Research and Development Team to develop new materials, concepts and products for orthodontics. The Research & Development Engineer will be expected to interface with employees at all levels in various departments, including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Technical Services, Regulatory Affairs, and Procurement. Major Responsibilities: Apply concepts in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field for use in 1) material properties development 2) adhesion 3) process development 4) laboratory testing 5) prototyping 6) 3D printing 7) packaging development 7) hardware & digital systems integration. A qualified candidate must be prepared for immediate intellectual contribution and innovative thought. This position is within the R&D function and reports to an R&D Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be working with: Mechanical test equipment • Electrical/Mechanical Devices •chemical test equipment• adhesive technologies • 3D printers • tooling •advanced ceramics, polymers and metals • potentially hazardous chemicals with safety protocols.
Knowledge or ability to learn the use of analytical equipment i.e. Instron & Microscopes
Conduct assigned experiments using appropriate equipment, techniques and protocols agreed upon with supervisor with moderate supervision and demonstrates ability to independently plan and carry out daily work.
Design and carry out experiments that scientifically confirm performance and reliability
Prepare standard technical reports and white papers. Summarizes and communicates data of a complex nature to non-technical audiences.
Comfortable doing repetitive tasks
Knowledge or ability to learn advanced materials systems
Prototype product design
Independently conducts work in agreement with business and project needs.
Able to lead small to intermediate size projects with minimal supervision; is accountable for results and owns the data.
Suggest experimental approaches to complex problems and carry out investigations independently.
Design and carry out experiments with scientific methods. Hypothesis to Conclusions reporting.
Scientific literature review.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS degree in Materials/Polymer Science, Mechanical Eng., Chemical Eng., Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields
At least 1-3 years of engineering or related experience
Understanding of medical device design controls
Experience with industry standard engineering design, test methods and reporting
Proficient business communications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred 3-5+ years of experience
Understanding of good laboratory practices (GLP).
Knowledge or ability to learn the use of analytical equipment i.e. Instron & Microscopes

Target Market Salary Range:
Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
