Title: Associate Director, Formulation R&D

Department: CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls)

Location: Branford, CT

Position Summary: Responsible for leading and directing the formulation design and development of pre-clinical and clinical development candidates. Collaborates with vendors, provides technical guidance, and oversees critical strategies and activities related to discovery and development programs.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the formulation development function.

• Work with vendors to guide pre-formulation and clinical formulation design.

• Provide technical expertise to program teams from early development through registration.

• Collaboratively manage CROs and CMOs in research and development of drug products.

• Interface on product specifications and quality control strategies.

• Contribute to program development strategies, budgets, and timelines.

• Serve as a scientific or project lead on programs.

• Build strong relationships with internal functions and external collaborators.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of Formulation and Pharmaceutical Development experience.

•  Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, or related physical science.

• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.

• Extensive knowledge of GxP practices, ICH guidelines, and regulatory practices.

• Familiarity with analytical methods and drug product properties.

• Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Quality by Design (QbD)
