UKG is seeking a motivated Lead Software Engineer to help develop best-in-class HR, payroll, and workforce management solutions that help organizations unlock happier outcomes for all. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will contribute directly to the goals of our product teams and help innovate and evolve our processes and product portfolio to meet our customers' ever-changing needs. You will play a key role in the development of new software products and features with a keen eye for detail. You will have the opportunity to work side by side with other members of the engineering team (other Software Engineers, Test Engineers, and SREs) and members from UX and Product Management to build the best-in-class products in the market.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Quickly and efficiently find robust and effective solutions to difficult development problems

• Follow development and deployment processes to deliver consistent value to our customers

• Provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues that are escalated to the engineering team

• Perform insightful and constructive code reviews to help maintain and teach proper coding techniques and ensure that your fellow developers are considering all pertinent factors to prevent regression defects or the introduction of problematic code

• Communicate with team members to clarify requirements and overcome obstacles to meet the team goals

• Participate in standups, architecture reviews and planning meetings

• Document internal and external information for use by the team and customers

• Share learnings/expertise and pains with the broader group and help grow other team members

This position requires a hybrid in-office work arrangement with the ability to work 3 days per week in a UKG office (Branchburg – NJ)

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• More than 6 years of hands-on development experience with full stack java-based web development: Java, SQL, React, HTML, JavaScript, XML, AJAX, application servers and web servers

• Has an excellent understanding of programming and testing concepts, design patterns, and best practices, and can translate that understanding directly to implementations

• Has a deep knowledge and stays on the forefront of all development languages and frameworks utilized by our applications (Java, React, JavaScript, SQL, CSS etc.)

• Strong Java skills

• Experience with React and front end technologies

• Experience with SQL Server and SQL Queries

• Test-driven development experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiar with Agile development methodologies

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
