About the Role

MASSIV Automated Systems, an advanced technology-based division of Magna International Inc., specializes in the design and build of automated/robotic assembly lines for the automotive industry. Our areas of expertise include hemming (robotic and table top), laser welding, and assembly line welding. Our customers include other divisions within Magna and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.

We are a true global supplier to the automotive industry! Our assembly lines provide a diverse range of automotive products such as doors, hoods, liftgates and underbody parts to customers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.

The Welder/Fitter will fit, align and weld various components and perform various welding and cutting operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Perform sequence of various welding and cutting operations for a wide variety of repair and fabrication work

• Fit, align and weld various components

• Design, modify and fabricate special tools and equipment

• Operate various machines, tools and related equipment (drill press, torches, hand tools) etc.

• Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner and know how to properly lock out all energy sources, including stored energy

• Consult your Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor if you are not 100% sure of how to perform tasks in a safe manner

• Follow all safety rules, standards and procedures at all times in all areas

• Know what types of Personal Protective Equipment are required for the jobs in your area and always use them properly

• Ensure that your work area is kept clean, tidy and organized at all times to prevent accidents and produce good quality products

• Report all unusual circumstances and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements

• Follow all ISO Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world class quality products are supplied to our customers

• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Who we are looking for

• Recognized C.W.B Certificate or equivalent

• 3 to 5 years experience in Mig, Tig and Arc welding

• Experience in welding mild steels, tool steels, stainless and aluminum

• Knowledge and ability to operate various machines, tools and related equipment

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required

• Good communication skills

• Must have own tools

• Ability to work as a team member and individually
