ZIPPO MANUFACTURING COMP Purchasing Manager in Bradford, Pennsylvania

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction for all Domestic Purchasing activities.  Develop the purchasing team and foster a symbiotic relationship with other departments to provide the best supply chain support for the corporation.  Organize and execute plans for obtaining materials to support production and customer demand.  Assist in optimizing MRP.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Direct the daily operations of the Domestic Purchasing Team while supporting a high level of customer service.
  • Establish and implement strategies to assure lowest total cost (TCO) while mitigating risk to the Corporation.
  • Oversee materials project management, and monitor on-time status, accuracy of work, and proper adherence to procedures.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers.
  • Serve as SME (subject matter expert) on the ERP core team. Test and incorporate new practices to improve materials flow.  Embrace data driven decision-making utilizing system instead of off-system, manual processes.  Develop and maintain SOP's for critical tasks, cross training and risk management.
  • Develop the supply chain strategy for the organization from a domestic basis including best practices, implementing new systems, establishing SOP's and other optimizations in order improve the materials flow and to grow the business.
  • Coordinate with operations/forecasting/part set-up to develop the MRP output to support purchasing, inventory management, and on time delivery.
  • Logically adjust to current business situations and economic conditions to make informed decisions and adequately address changing material requirements.
  • Maintain document management of supplier contracts and material compliance paperwork.
  • Ensure system parameters, including vendor profile, item setup, safety stock, order points, lead-time, Bills of Material, etc. are properly updated.
  • Collaborate with management to share information, problem solve and clarify supply chain objectives.
  • Gather and analyze data and metrics to compile reports for auditors and management.
  • Develop team members' skills to bring additional value to Zippo, while developing individual growth.
  • Travel as required (5-10%).

* EDUCATION AND ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Project Management AND/OR
    • 10 years' experience in Supply Chain OR
    • Any similar combination of education and experience
  • Experience with ERP/MRP system setup and management required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365 preferred
  • Demonstrated Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
