UPMC Office Assistant I - Bradford Medical Group in Bradford, Pennsylvania

This full-time role offers a Monday through Friday schedule with day shift hours from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional extended hours. There are no weekend or holiday shifts required. Responsibilities:
Verify patient information and medical records in the computerized scheduling system to ensure accuracy before scheduling, rescheduling, or confirming appointments. Maintain and update physician schedules regularly to avoid conflicts and ensure appointments are properly coordinated.
Greet and register patients professionally, courteously, and efficiently, offering clear instructions and directions to ensure a smooth visit. Notify appropriate departments of patient arrivals and ensure accurate check-in and check-out procedures are completed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming waiting area, ensuring the beverage station and reading materials are consistently replenished and in good condition.
Prepare patient charts and necessary documents in advance of appointments, ensuring that all required information is ready and available for medical staff.
Answer incoming calls, screen calls appropriately, take accurate messages, and provide relevant information to patients and staff in a professional and timely manner.
Complete necessary paperwork, including encounter forms, referrals, and other documents, using the computerized system to generate billing-related information.
Address patient questions and concerns regarding appointments, testing, or procedures, providing clear and accurate information to ensure understanding.
Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding medical records and patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards. Utilize the automated financial management system for scheduling, verification, charge entry, co-payment collection, and reconciliation.
Required:
High school diploma or GED
1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
Preferred:
Knowledge of medical terminology
Word processing and computer experience
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
