Bozeman Health Pharmacy Buyer (FT- 1 fte) in Bozeman, Montana

This position requires being on-site at the Deaconess Regional Medical Center campus. Looking for an individual with experience with purchasing contract compliance and inventory management. A high level of attention to detail is important for success in this role.

Position Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing, receiving, and maintaining appropriate stock levels for Bozeman Health, while monitoring usage and managing cost. They are in charge of conducting inventory and requesting new products based on organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Montana Licensure as a Technician in Training within 30 days of hire if not a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Required to obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification within one year of Technician in Training licensure.

Preferred

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician and/or pharmacy purchasing experience.

Essential Job Functions:

In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

  • Utilize various reports to optimize inventory management, including automated dispensing cabinet data

  • Responsible for pharmaceutical and supply procurement including placing and receiving orders, unpacking orders, verifying contents, restocking shelves, and returns

  • Responsible for periodic verification of narcotic vault inventory

  • Ensures accurate prices on invoices according to contracts and agreements

  • Works with System Pharmacy manager and Operations Supervisor to optimize and maintain vendor contracts and agreements

  • Controls the preparation and taking of physical inventory annually and outdated merchandise returns

  • Review and validates responsibility report expense detail as requested by System Pharmacy Manager or Operations Supervisor.

  • Computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications and standard office equipment

  • Self-directed, completes assignments accurately, thoroughly and with minimal oversight

  • Detail oriented, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Lift 30 pounds of weight (pick up supplies, move equipment, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies.

  • Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.

  • Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts

  • On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs

  • Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies

  • Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients, families, or employees

  • Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities

  • Bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.

  • Radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed

  • Various chemicals and medications used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances.

  • Infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses
