The role of a Materials Lab Tech within the Outdoor Performance platform team is pivotal for ensuring product innovation and quality. As part of the team, you will play a key role in driving consumer-first strategies, focusing on power brands, and investing inwards to deliver outstanding outdoor performance products.

As a Materials Lab Technician at Vista Outdoor, you will help us ensure the quality and performance of our products. Your responsibilities will include conducting various tests on materials used in our products to assess their durability, strength, and suitability for outdoor use. You will be responsible for analyzing test results, documenting findings, and providing recommendations for improvements to our product development team.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Materials & Testing and is based out of our Bozeman office.

As the Materials Lab Tech, you will have an opportunity to:

· Embrace the concepts of cross training and lean manufacturing

· Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding issues that affect production

· Consistently maintains the highest level of quality; and maintains a safe, clean, organized work area.

· Follows all Safety policies and procedures

· Conduct testing including test creation

· Manage 3rd-party test sourcing, inspection, investigation, and document creation

· Maintain open line of communication with vendors and mills (communicate directly)

· Grow the capacity and capability of testing functions in the lab (this includes new procedures and lab equipment)

· Perform quality testing in the lab, create test apparatus, test reports, and provide data analysis and recommendations that are used by the organization to draw conclusions about the quality of products, materials, and components.

· Communicate directly with developers and designers to properly execute testing and provide insights on products and materials

· Oversee all quality testing functions to ensure information is delivered in a timely manner (in line with the product/development calendar)

You have:

· 2+ years’ experience in a fast-paced environment

· Effective & professional communication skills

· Works effectively with team members

Pay Range:

$15.87 - $21.44

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
