Bozeman Health Histotechnologist- Certified (FT- 1.0 FTE) in Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary:

Collects and processes surgical specimens. Prepares and embeds specimens with paraffin. Cuts blocks and performs H&E stains with coverslips. Performs immunohistochemical stains as requested and maintains immunostainer & reagents. Prepares solutions and special stains. Processes frozen sections with rapid H&E stains. Enters procedure charge codes. Follows safe practices with infectious and/or hazardous materials. Utilizes and maintains equipment, and supplies in the department appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree that includes 30 semester hours of biology and chemistry plus one (1) year of histology experience OR completion of NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program.

  • Certified Histotechnologist, HTL (ASCP)

Essential Job Functions: In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

  • Perform special & immunohistochemical staining procedures, validations of new reagents and antibodies. 20%

  • Enter procedure charge codes. 10%

  • Analyzer maintenance and set up 10%

  • Troubleshooting/resolving issues with instrumentation, staining, and testing. 10%

  • Assist supervisor/manager in training, competency, and review of non-certified pathology staff members.

  • Perform general histology duties such as preparing and staining slides for Pathologist review and preparing tissues for embedding and staining.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule Requirements

  • This role requires regular and sustained attendance.

  • The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

  • On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
