Summary
The Coordinator of Federal Aid is responsible for taking a leadership role in working with the federal financial aid programs as well as the private loan programs administered by the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (SFA). The Coordinator is responsible for the administration (advising, validating, awarding, reconciling, and reporting) of all Federal Title IV financial aid programs; including, but not limited to, Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG), Federal Direct Loans, Federal Workstudy (FWS), Federal TEACH Grant, and Federal Nursing Loans. They report to the Assistant Director Packaging, Scholarships, and Fund Management, supervise support staff, and support the Enrollment Management division's mission to recruit and retain students through the leveraging of student financial aid and scholarships.
Essential Functions
• Management/leadership necessary for the daily operations of Federal TIV Financial Aid programs. Responsibilities include:
• Serves as BGSU SFA contact for all Federal Aid programs. Including but not limited to, Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG), Federal Direct Loans, Federal Workstudy(FWS), Federal TEACH Grant, and Federal Nursing Loans.
• Assist with monitoring, determining award allocation distributions, and completing reports for Nursing Loans and federal campus-based programs (SEOG & FWS).
• Analyze and oversee the awarding/rosters/queries of recipients, authorization of disbursements, and monitor recipient's continued eligibility for federal financial aid. Over $135 million in federal aid disbursed in 2022-23.
• Run queries/reports and summaries of financial aid awards and packages for compliance and fund reconciliation purposes.
• Reconcile all programs within Peoplesoft (CSS/FMS-grants accounting) as well as with the US Department of Education (ED) Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) and National Student Loan Database Systems (NSLDS).
• Assess yearly program changes, identifies problems with service delivery and initiates corrective action as needed. Makes recommendations for the development or enhancement of policies, processes, procedures, systems, web applications and/or forms.
• Assists with all A-133 annual audits.
• Directs classified staff members, including the hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, and professional development.
• Coordinates the private loan program. Responsible for the daily import & export of files, error resolution, certifications/originations & reconciliation. Over $19 million disbursed in 2022-23.
• Evaluates applications and monitors eligibility for students with Unusual Enrollment History (UEH) and in the Fresh Start Program.
• Works collaboratively with others in Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, providing leadership and assistance as needed.
• Maintains a comprehensive understanding of federal and state student financial aid laws and regulations as well as all SFA and University policies and procedures to ensure customers receive accurate, complete, and up-to-date information. Interprets Federal S
