The University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a Scholarship Advising and Partnerships Coordinator! Scholarship Services is part of Student Financial Services, a unit within the Enrollment Management division, where we support recruitment and student success efforts of the campus by utilizing federal, state, institutional and private funding to maintain access to an education and ensure aid policies support retention, graduation, and diversity goals. This full-time position reports to the Assistant Director of Scholarship Advising and Partnerships and is responsible for delivering front line scholarship customer service as part of a unified Student Financial Services team.General duties include managing a team of student workers and/or graduate assistants who will provide scholarship advising, ensuring that excellent customer service is provided to both applicants and recipients of scholarships, conducting outreach presentations and attending events representing CU, and supporting the office as needed. This position maintains a thorough and current working knowledge of all Title IV federal, State of Colorado, and institutional rules, regulations and procedures to ensure accurate release of information and program compliance.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Scholarship Services Employee Management

  • Hire, supervise, mentor, train, motivate, evaluate, and provide leadership to the Office of Scholarship Services student employees and graduate students.

  • Ensure that all business hours are staffed to cover incoming phone, calls, walk in appointments, and emails.

  • Assign student employees to projects and tasks based on skills and availability.

  • Student employee schedule management.

  • Lead student employee supervisor management meetings.

  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to monitor and improve performance.

  • Conduct quality assurance audits, monitor phone calls, chats, and meetings to ensure professional standards are upheld.

  • Address all conduct or performance issues with a growth mindset and progressive performance improvement plans.

  • Serve as resource to student employees.

  • Ensure that the work assigned to the team is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate with other SFS units to achieve consistent standards and employee expectations.

  • Ensure that that graduate assistants and undergraduate student workers maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and University guidelines and that they are trained to complete tasks in accordance with these rules, regulations and guidelines in a timely manner.

Advising

  • Provide general scholarship advising via phone, email, and in-person during business hours. Refer scholarship recipient questions to departments and the Scholarship Recipient Support Specialist as appropriate.

  • Advise students and families on application processes, important timelines, types of aid, eligibility requirements, financing options, and other resources available.

  • Adjust awards as necessary to reflect student's enrollment and eligibility.

  • Write, review, and keep up-to-date the position's policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the Office of Scholarship Services and Student Financial Services projects. These can include but are not limited to reviewing and rating scholarship applications, coordinating scholarship interviews, developing and updating modules for the student employee training manual.

Outreach

  • Participate in scholarship program specific campus and community outreach events, including events held in the evening and on weekends.

  • Develop and present outreach presentations on financial aid and scholarships for prospective and current students.

  • Assist Admissions with recruitment events that could include presenting, hosting workshops, or managing a resource table.

  • Develop and maintain liaison relationships with a variety of university and private scholarship programs as well as colleges, departments and other campus programs to provide support for student recipients and maintain donor relations.

Processing

  • Process scholarship appeals.

  • Review overawards and make appropriate adjustments.

  • Cross-train with other scholarship team members and assist with processing cost of attendance and verification of financial aid offers for external organizations as necessary.

Professional Development

  • Collaborate with immediate supervisor to determine areas for professional growth. Identify and request appropriate training opportunities offered by the office, the University, and through various professional associations or organizations.

  • Participate in external and internal trainings, conferences, webinars etc. related to administering all types of financial aid.

  • Attend staff meetings, retreats and other meetings as assigned. May include representing the Office of Financial Aid in enrollment management and campus-level initiatives.

What You Should Know

  • Final candidate must pass a criminal and financial background check and cannot be in default on a student loan either upon hire or while employed in this position.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 per year.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • One plus years of job related customer service experience working in a student support office in higher education with experience hiring and supervising employees.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • Strong computer skills including software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other presentation software), email communication tools, and web-based applications.
