Job Summary

The Department of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the field of Queer and/or Trans Studies with expertise in the social determinants of health and wellness, for a start date of fall 2024. Historical period and geographical focus of research are open. This hire will be part of a cluster hire across the College of Arts and Sciences with a focus on "The social determinants of health." Interdisciplinary scholarship is strongly encouraged.

The candidate's research and teaching will demonstrate a solid grounding in gender, queer, and/or transgender studies and in the histories, practices, and political, legal, and social determinants surrounding health and wellness for women and LGBTQ people. We especially welcome candidates with specializations in Queer of Color, Queer Indigenous, and/or Trans of Color Critique. Candidates will teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and should demonstrate an ability to teach required courses in the department's curriculum as well as those in the candidate's area of expertise. Candidates will also teach courses for the College of Arts and Science's new interdisciplinary major in Public Health. Who We Are

The Department of Women and Gender Studies (WGST) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) has experienced rapid growth over the past few years and is searching for a candidate to complement its interdisciplinary and intersectional focus. WGST offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree, a minor, and certificates in LGBTQ Studies and Global Gender & Sexuality Studies as well as a graduate certificate for CU students enrolled in another disciplinary masters or doctoral degree program. The WGST faculty is composed of 13 core and 14 associated members from over 12 different departments or programs across campus. Over 100 students are enrolled in our undergraduate program, which strives to foster critical thinking skills applied to the study of women and gender, particularly in relation to our three key areas of concentration: race/ethnicity, sexuality, and global/transnational studies. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

To teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conduct research in their areas of expertise, and provide service to the department, the college, the campus, and larger professional community.

What You Should Know

Standard teaching load per semester-based academic year is 2-1. The anticipated start date for the appointment begins August 19, 2024.

What We Can Offer

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000-$88,000. The final candidate may be eligible for moving and start-up funds to be determined upon acceptance of the position.
