Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder is encouraging applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in humanities or arts subject area with a specific focus of Latinx Health and Wellness. This collaborative search process involves five departments: Art & Art History, English, History, Classics, and Spanish and Portuguese with the goal to lead to a collaborative effort of sustained program development that realizes the Arts & Humanities' essential role in the scholarship of health and wellness across fields. The successful candidate will be housed in the department(s) closest to their core subject area.

We welcome applications from scholars of any of the above-listed fields with focuses on Latinx experiences. Sub-disciplinary area focus might include Cultural Studies, Disability Studies, Art Therapy, Women and Gender and Trans Studies, History of Medicine, History of Public Health and/or Disease, Environmental Studies, Language Access, Healthcare and Health equity for Spanish-speaking Latinx populations; Language and Latino Health and Health Literacy or related field coupled with an interest in developing course offerings in Narrative Medicine, Arts & Wellness, and Medical Humanities. Who We Are

The Division of Arts and Humanities is creating a joint search in Latinx health and wellness with an emphasis on medical arts and humanities and narrative medicine. This interdisciplinary position was created by the Departments of Art and Art History, Classics, English, History, and Spanish and Portuguese.

The College of Arts & Sciences comprises three divisions (natural sciences, social sciences, and arts and humanities) which in combination have nearly 40 academic units and nearly 50 programs. The College is home to more than 700 tenured and tenure-track faculty, approximately 1,000 non-tenure-track teaching faculty, approximately 400 university and classified staff, and more than 17,000 undergraduates and 2,280 graduate students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The position entails a teaching load of 2/2 with undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring responsibilities. The successful candidate will produce a strong record of publications or creative work and teaching in degree specialty through the lens of Latinx Health and Wellness. The successful candidate also will participate in service responsibilities as defined by their primary unit. This position will begin on August 19, 2024.

  • The position can include a variety of sub-specializations related to Latinx cultures. The Humanities division and the departments involved seek to expand expertise and increase course offerings and representation of minority populations in Hispanic communities in the areas of Health and Wellness.

  • The tenure home will be determined by the discipline of study of the final candidate.

What We Can Offer

  • The academic year salary for this position is $85,000 - $100,000.

  • The final candidate may be eligible for moving expenses.
