Position Summary
Mentored by an experienced statistician, the Student Intern will receive an internship project and will contribute in specific research questions related to statistics in clinical research, pre- or post-development.
Part of this, the Student Intern may actively participate to any statistical activity for a clinical study.
The Student Intern will beneficiate from BMS working environment and be fully integrated in the Boudry Biostatistics group.
The candidate will become more familiar with the drug development process with regards to study designs and study conduct, as well as regulatory requirements.
Internship should be considered part of the student education and the work contribute partly/fully to their studies.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct literature research
Develop innovative statistical methods and/or computational tools
Perform data analysis and simulations to demonstrate utility or research
Present project work to internal and external stakeholders
Write summary reports and manuscripts
The Student Intern will have to deliver an internship report, in alignment with requirements from their university.
For BMS internal use, the student will develop a PowerPoint presentation of their work and findings, and a possible guidance document.
Internship outcomes may lead to publications and further research.
Qualifications & Experience
Internship is 6 months, as part of the university, and should happen at least during July and August.
Offered to Master or PhD student in Statistics (ideally Medical Statistics / Biostatistics) with good understanding of basic methodology of clinical research.
Good working knowledge of using R and/or SAS and MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
Good verbal communication skills, ability to write clearly and effectively, in English language.
Effective interpersonal skills with professional attitude.
Owning, or able to obtain, permit to work in Switzerland
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts.
