Job Description:

Responsible for contributing to the development of Economic and Investment outlook/advice and recommendations to investment professional, clients and prospects; asset class research (i.e. country, commodity, sector and industry research, impact of macro environment on asset classes, white papers); contribute to the development of Investment themes and content for strategic insight reports; research profit patterns and valuations across industries merging top-down and bottom-up approaches; data gathering/assist in performing valuation and other modeling and statistical analysis for various investment and wealth management applications.

Securitized Products Analyst

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the overall management and surveillance of the CIO Fixed Income Team’s structured product exposures across agency-MBS, ABS, and CMBS sectors.

  • Work with senior analysts and portfolio managers to implement a research-focused process to help drive team investment discussions on issue selection and sector positioning, incorporating key data and thorough relative value analysis across the securitized space.

  • Generate high-conviction investment recommendations and communicate ideas to investment teams via presentations and internal meetings on a regular basis – ensure that team’s top ideas are reflected in portfolio positioning to drive positive excess returns versus benchmarks.

  • Assist in the securitized trading process by identifying individual CUSIPs from broker inventories and coordinating with internal traders and external counterparties.

  • Monitor existing portfolio positions on a real-time basis, updating team on any significant change in investment viewpoints or market moves.

  • Perform in-depth research and analysis on the U.S. housing and securitized markets.

  • Provide input and help drive improvements and enhancements to the team’s data and reports for structured products.

  • Maintain key industry relationships and leverage stakeholders/partners both internally and externally (i.e., sell side analysts, rating agencies, etc.).

  • Attend industry conferences – report key findings back to investment team.

  • Collaborate with teams across the CIO and Investment Solutions Group (ISG) and regularly contribute to CIO team thought leadership content.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant Fixed Income experience in structured products research/trading, preferably as a research associate or junior analyst working under a senior analyst.

  • Fundamental knowledge of the securitized space and an understanding of key trends, sector valuations, drivers, etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Analytical mindset and strong financial modeling skills – ability to quickly synthesize market data and provide thoughtful insights on complicated topics/trends.

  • Self-starter with an ability to manage time effectively and independently with a proactive approach to managing multiple workflows.

  • Team-oriented mindset, ready to contribute ideas to enhance the investment process.

  • Very strong written and verbal communications skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Progress towards CFA and/or CAIA is a plus.
