SPT Labtech Sales Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts

The primary role of the Regional Sales Specialist – Liquid Handling is to deliver on annual sales targets for the Apricot branded liquid handling product line for the entire East Coast sales territory. Sales process includes product demonstrations, outbound lead generation, and post-sales support. This is a unique opportunity where you will work in a team environment supporting multiple territory and key account managers. This position will require pipeline management, willingness to help solve customer problems, and become a key stakeholder in the launch of new Apricot branded products. You'll ideally be placed in or around the Boston area working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

  • Gain market knowledge and maintain awareness of procedures, new technologies, and utilization techniques.

  • Maintain awareness/compile and communicate competitive information on equipment and devices preferred by the marketplace.

  • Develop professional relationships within the assigned region with research associates, purchasing groups, lab managers, PHD’s, and executive members of an organization.

  • Evaluate customer needs and emphasize salable product features, using technical knowledge of capabilities and limitations of current product offering.

  • Educate and train customers on SPT – Apricot branded products. Provide pre- and post-sale product demonstrations, product in-services and clinical support. Attend occasional vendor shows to support staff in the use of Apricot products/equipment as necessary. Adhere to specific laboratory protocols and procedures.

  • Advise customers of equipment for a given need based on product and technical knowledge of the market procedures and products.

  • Provide Sales coverage for vacant Sales territories when requested to do so; could be assignment outside assigned region.

  • Complete and submit accurate expense reports to document activity and expenditures in a timely manner according to the Expense Policy.

  • Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.

  • Support company goals and objectives.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Computer literate and thorough familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of CRM is preferred; Salesforce.com is preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including persuasive and expositive skills.

  • Ability to effectively make formal and informal product presentations to individuals as well as to large groups, including physicians, research associates, purchasing groups, lab managers, and executive members of an organization.

  • Knowledge of the lab environment and sales cycle is preferred

  • Ability to effectively interact within the scientific professional’s community in an ethical and professional manner, including but not limited to interactions with inventory managers, physicians, research associates, purchasing groups, lab managers, and executive members of an organization.

  • Ability to function in multiple safety levels of different laboratories

  • Ability to effectively and independently manage time and workload with assigned regional territory.

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a Life Science discipline, a background in Genomics or Protein Crystallography is advantageous.

  • You’ll ideally be located in or around the Boston area.

  • Ability to travel between 30% - 60% within the assigned region.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn the necessary scientific terminology in order to proficiently sell into the laboratory market.
