Since 1985, BHCHP’s mission has been to ensure unconditionally equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston. Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. We are committed to ensuring that every one of these individuals has access to comprehensive health care, from preventative dental care to cancer treatment. Our clinicians, case managers, and behavioral health professionals work in more than 30 locations to serve some of our community’s most vulnerable—and most resilient—citizens.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a visionary and collaborative Director of Information Technology (IT) to support our justice-oriented mission through cutting-edge technology solutions.

As a crucial leader reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will oversee the development and maintenance of BHCHP’s information technology infrastructure. Your ingenuity and expertise will play a pivotal role in integrating technologies that support and empower our dedicated staff and enhance patient care. You will balance the excitement of innovation with the practical considerations of budget, security, and user-friendly design. Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday- Friday 8:00 am-4:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, implement, and upgrade technology systems to ensure efficiency, stability, and scalability.

  • Design and support secure remote access for all BHCHP sites and workforce members.

  • Develop and manage a robust network security strategy, ensuring IT systems comply with HIPAA and other regulations.

  • Set and enforce hardware and software standards.

  • Create and monitor metrics to improve IT performance and support service.

  • Oversee data backup routines and assess their effectiveness.

  • Help develop and test disaster recovery plans.

  • Mentor and lead the IT technical team.

  • Manage relationships with outside IT vendors and suppliers.

  • Participate in rotational on-call duties.

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of various systems, including networks, security, VOIP, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and physical security systems.

  • Manage IT solutions from development to implementation and support.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven success as IT Director or similar role, with at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience and 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in the healthcare or nonprofit sector.

  • Professional certifications in network and systems architecture, ITIL/ITSM, or project management are a plus; proficiency in supporting and administering Microsoft O365.

  • Advanced networking knowledge, including WAN technologies, routing, switching, network access controls, and wireless standards; experience with Windows networking, server administration, Active Directory, and MS Exchange.

  • Knowledge of security best practices, intrusion detection, and network monitoring.

  • Experience managing IP telephony systems.

  • Ability to respond to evolving and sometimes urgent organizational needs with flexibility and a positive attitude.

  • Excellent customer service skills; proven leadership and project management skills; excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders.

    Compensation and Benefits:

  • The compensation ranges is $105,000-$136,500.

  • BHCHP full-time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional compensation of seven thousand five hundred added to your base hiring rate for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
