Citizens Director of Agile - Corporate Strategy in Boston, Massachusetts

Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to lead our Agile Delivery Office. The successful candidate will play a highly visible role at Citizens and will work closely with the Head of Corporate Strategy and will work cross-functionally across all areas of Citizens (e.g., Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking, Enterprise Experience, Technology, HR, etc.) to drive and collaborate on critical elements of Citizens’ agile maturity. The Director will be responsible for developing a modern, highly effective framework encompassing people, processes, and tools to ensure that agile initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with our strategic objectives. This role involves working closely with product delivery teams across business and technology to orchestrate high-velocity delivery. Additionally, the Director will manage a team of individuals to support key projects in support of maturing Citizens’ agile delivery model. A strategic thinker with a deep understanding of agile methodologies and the ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement is essential.

What You’ll Do:

• Overall oversight of Agile enablement across Citizens: Partner with key stakeholders (Business, Tech, HR, Finance) to coordinate agile activities across Citizens and ensure we have strong connectivity across our Agile community of practice through regular Agile Leader connects and communications. Partner with key stakeholders and Agile leaders to drive continuous improvement efforts to refine and further mature overall agile delivery model.

• Agile Quarterly Planning and Governance: Orchestrate overall coordination and quality oversight of annual and quarterly planning governance forums/ceremonies, including the development of charters, big room planning, quarterly business reviews, and annual technology capital planning. Oversee adherence to agile operating principles including town structures, alignment to persistent funding, and gearing ratios.

• Agile Delivery Health Metrics: Oversee methodology and controls, and reporting for enterprise agile delivery health metrics to drive insights and actions into the performance and health of agile delivery.

• Implement Modern Agile Tools: In partnership with Technology, ensure Agile-related tools (Jira, Agile Resource Data Mart, Apptio, etc.) are fit-for-purpose and drive continued enhancements to ensure data provides accurate insights.

• Curate and facilitate agile learning journey experiences and programming: In partnership with Learning & Development team (HR) and business line leaders, help embed agile principles and learning methodologies into day-to-day business product delivery activities.

• Institutionalize Product Mindset and Product Delivery: Develop, maintain, and deliver a robust catalog of agile tools to augment business thinking and facilitate change. In partnership with HR and Businesses, help drive role clarity of agile roles across Citizens.

• Monitor Best Practices: Build relationships with other Agile leaders inside and outside of financial services industry to ensure we stay current on key trends / advancements.

• Advance our Agile Culture and Community Building: Help support agile ways of work by developing relevant programming and content for enterprise-wide agile forums and town halls; partner with communications to help provide holistic messaging and updates for colleagues.

• Develop and deliver stakeholder presentations: Develop presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors; synthesize key findings of analyses and recommendations; raise and present key findings to key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in management consulting and/or product manager role, with experience in agile methodologies

• At least 5 years of people management experience

• Strong knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)

• Exceptional analytical, communication, conceptual thinking, problem-solving skills

• Superb work ethic, attention to detail, team orientation, and commitment to excellence

• Passionate, highly motivated, self-driven, and a strong orientation to making change

• Understanding of the financial services / banking industry is a plus

• Will have a high degree of executive presence and professionalism

• Will need to successfully navigate the organization, build strong working relationships with key business stakeholders, and develop a strong professional internal network

• Is a quick learner, able to develop an understanding of the complex subject areas he or she is supporting to then deliver the strategic support needed by the business partner

• The successful candidate will also need to be skilled in synthesizing complex ideas into easy-to-understand executive / presentation materials - including delivery of executive-level presentations to senior management

• Is open to working independently and can handle ambiguity

• Should be able to work collectively and collaboratively with the team, business partners and/or Citizens senior leadership team to ensure high-quality service delivery satisfaction

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree required

Hours & Work Schedule:

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Hybrid- 3 days in office, 2 days from home
