Boston University DATA ANALYST III, Office of Professional Development & Postdoctoral Affairs in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Boston University's Office of Professional Development and Postdoctoral Affairs (PDPA) seeks a Data Analyst, Large-Scale and Training Grant Support to enhance interdisciplinary research at Boston University that spans departments and disciplines. With a focus on ensuring a supportive and competitive training environment for research and scholarship at BU, PDPA offers programs, resources and services for doctoral students, postdoctoral scholars, and their faculty mentors.

Reporting to the Director for Research Development, the Data Analyst will work closely with faculty teams to produce and synthesize institutional data for the purposes of developing large-scale or training grant proposals. Analyst will develop and implement survey instruments, prepare reports and analyses on survey results and create data visualization and data analysis dashboards to support proposal development and grant reporting. Where possible, position will automate data collection routines that will help in the efficacy of grant-based reporting and proposal development including the preparation of National Institutes of Health data tables to support training grant submissions, annual reports, and renewals. The Data Analyst will collaborate with a variety of offices to Identify appropriate sources and analytical methods to meet faculty needs for data and analysis and communicate results of data generation in a clear and effective way that is in alignment with the specific needs of the funding opportunity.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years’ relevant work experience required, Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Proficiency in programming languages currently used in and with data analytics/data visualization (Python, R, SQL, SPSS) required.

  • Familiarity with complex grant proposals and training grant opportunities, particularly National Institutes of Health K12 and T32 applications preferred.
