Bridge Inspector 1 - Starting salary is $14.98/hourly with an additional $3.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
Bridge Inspector 2- Starting salary is $17.15/hourly with an additional $3.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
Bridge Inspector 3- Starting salary is $18.35/hourly with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
Bridge Inspector 4- Starting salary is $22.47/hourly with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance will substitute for the high school diploma or GED.
Job Concepts
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To participate in on-the-job training to learn standard procedures and practices associated with bridge inspection.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Entry.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from a Bridge Inspector 5 or Engineer. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Department of Transportation and Development. Other locations may be approved by SCS.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Engineering Technicians by the presence of bridge inspection duties.
Differs from Bridge Inspector 2 by the absence of experienced-level bridge inspection duties.

Learns to take measurements and perform field tests.
Learns techniques and procedures required to conduct routine inspections of new or existing on-system/off-system bridges.
Learns to assess accidents and compile accident information.
Learns to complete sketches, charts, graphs, photographs and narratives for inspection reports.
May learn to inspect and/or gather samples of drainage structures and construction materials.
May learn to operate or assist in operating special access equipment such as bucket trucks, man lifts, ladders, etc.
