Summary

As a Tester Applications Engineer within the Systems Integration Group (SIG) at Micron Technology, you will play a critical role in the development of internal test equipment and solutions that enable Micron’s product roadmap. You will be responsible for the software and hardware that enables SIG’s test equipment for the end applications. Your primary focus will be on high-speed component and module test applications across the DRAM product families (Compute/Graphics/Mobile). Your responsibilities will also include ensuring the successful utilization of this equipment in Micron’s global manufacturing and engineering sites through collaboration with worldwide teams. This is a high impact opportunity that offers significant potential for development and growth.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Develop Test Equipment and Supporting Hardware, Software and Processes

  • Support internal test solutions development and deployment through collaboration with key functional groups.

  • Collaborate with equipment engineering on tester hardware and software design.

  • Develop interface libraries that enable test programs and automation to interface with tester system software.

  • Design the application specific hardware, software and processes required for the tester to perform to specifications in the appropriate manufacturing and/or engineering application.

  • Provide the DUT interface hardware requirements, calibration, and test routines needed to enable new product technologies.

  • Assist functional groups in the development and qualification of first of a kind test programs.

Analyze Tester Requirements and Capabilities

  • Perform continuous gap analysis between existing tester capabilities and product roadmaps to identify areas where new tester development may be required.

  • Establish and maintain internal tester roadmaps in conjunction with product and test/probe engineering groups.

  • Conduct controlled evaluations and design experiments to understand tester capabilities.

  • Work with functional groups locally and/or globally to establish and refine new tester requirements and specifications.

  • Represent Probe/Test requirements in the communicating and defining of new tester requirements.

Support Engineering and Manufacturing

  • Provide applications support to the worldwide equipment users.

  • Work with manufacturing sites and key functional groups on the integration and qualification of internal testers.

  • Provide the processes and tools vital to enable sites to accurately maintain and debug their internal tester fleet.

  • Provide timely support for manufacturing and engineering tester issues, including the communicating and prioritizing of issues back to equipment engineering teams.

Communicate and Mentor

  • Actively share technical information to raise the level of awareness and knowledge in the area, department, site, or larger industry groups

  • Accurately store and share tester documentation and information such that it is available globally.

  • Effectively engage in the development and training of engineers using the internally developed testers.

Education

Required

Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or related field of study

Experience

At least 5 years’ experience in one of the following:

  • Engineering role with memory product Test/Probe experience.

  • Engineering role with test equipment development or support related experience.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of DRAM test programs, specifications, and testing techniques.

  • Significant experience with high-speed DRAM (compute, mobile, or graphics) testing and characterization.

  • Very good knowledge of automated memory test systems, including algorithmic pattern generators, pin electronics, power supplies, and DUT interface boards.

  • Very good C++ and python programming skills.

  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills and techniques.

  • High degree of self-initiative with an ability to think and act independently.

  • Able to multi-task and take ownership for a broad range of responsibilities.

  • Project Management and organization skills.

  • Proven track record to read and understand technical documentation.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Experience with Micron’s internal test equipment is a plus.

  • Understanding of Micron’s manufacturing processes and systems is a plus.
