POSITION SUMMARY

The National Cataract Equipment Manager will lead capital equipment sales execution in the US. The supervisory organization of the position will be the US Cataract Equipment Specialist Team. Reporting directly to the Head of US Surgical Equipment Sales this position will support the growth and success of the US cataract equipment business through hiring, developing and maintaining top talent, having key customer relationships, understanding the market and customer need and working in close collaboration with the entire commercial team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cataract Equipment Sales Management (80%)

  • Achieve or exceed quarterly and annual sales goals for capital equipment, consumables, and accessories.

  • Hire, develop, and maintain top talent on the Cataract Equipment Team.

  • Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports, enabling and empowering them be the example to better lead & support the sales organization, drive positive sales results, and prepare them for future roles of increasing responsibility.

  • Communicate in a positive and transparent manner, supporting the strategy, vision, tactics, objectives, and initiatives of the organization.

  • Routinely participate in sales field rides, target planning, territory alignment, national and regional congresses, KOL engagement and internal discussions.

  • Establish and manage to a set of operational standards that ensure accuracy and accountability to management metrics and administrative requirements.

  • Work closely with division and regional counterparts to establish a culture of teamwork and cooperation within and amongst field selling teams to maximize equipment sales.

  • Demonstrate initiative and strategic intent to ensure that market trends, challenges and opportunities, and the response to those trends, challenges, and opportunities, are effectively executed against and communicated across the commercial organization.

  • Continuously support customer relationships and demonstrate a firm leadership presence to support key customer inquiries and needs, driving loyalty.

  • Support and uphold a culture of compliance, diversity, and accountability while championing the J&J Credo.

Business Planning and Sales Strategy Development (15%)

  • Ability to review complex data sets to uncover opportunities and targets within the US cataract market.

  • Development of team strategic and tactical plan to maximize cataract equipment sales.

  • Continuous dedication and reinforcement of the plan to ensure team and organizational alignment and activity.

Cataract Market Landscape Insights (SME) (5%)

  • Engages with industry KOLs, customers, in-office and at industry events to gather intelligence and elevate penetration and reputation of JJV brand and our broader cataract offering.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on the cataract equipment to support business needs of Johnson & Johnson Vision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree is required, in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences as preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years medical sales experience is required, with 3 years sales leadership preferred.

  • Must exhibit proficiency commensurate with grade in the following competencies: adaptability, teamwork, initiative, innovation, integrity, analytical, leadership, strategic thinking, communication.

  • Proven track record in medical, surgical and/or capital equipment sales is required.

  • Capital equipment marketing experience is preferred.

  • Ophthalmology medical device experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce, and experience with Salesforce optimization is preferred.

  • Up to 60% domestic business travel may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Sales Leadership

  • Strong, proven capabilities to lead a capital equipment sales team to deliver organizational sales goals.

  • Industry and market knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of the ophthalmology space with ability to demonstrate credibility to internal (Commercial leaders, sales and global/US colleagues) and external (customers, KOLs, partners) audiences)

  • Demonstrated expertise in MedTech capital equipment sales and strategy or equivalent experience.

  • Strategic thinking and planning:

  • Interprets data and communicates the importance of her/his findings to decision makers.

  • Able to connect insights to strategies, and strategies to tactics that scale and deliver on revenue goals.

  • Collaboration:

  • Able to work cross-functionally within a matrixed organization.

  • Strong relationship development, communications, presentation, and negotiations skills, for both internal and external audiences

  • Leadership:

  • Demonstrated track record as an inspirational leader.

  • Able to set a vision, craft a plan, inspire followership, and direct and collaborate with a team to implement strategy.

  • Able to recruit, retain, and develop top talent.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $111,000 to $179,400.

The Company maintains a highly competitive sales incentive compensation program. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for participation in this program in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.

  • Vacation up to 120 hours per calendar year.
