ITD currently has an opening for an IT Database Administrative Analyst III at our headquarters office located in Boise Idaho. This position will create, build, and manage database systems. This includes availability, capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring and tuning, security, database access management, incident resolution, change management, and database backup and recovery.

Note: This position requires a background investigation before a final job offer is made. This position is a full-time, in-person role, with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule upon the successful completion of the probation period. Initially, the role will require full-time presence at our headquarters location in Boise Idaho. After the probation period, there may be flexibility for a combination of in-person and remote work, depending on business needs and performance.

Example of Duties:

Database Management:

  • On a daily basis, monitor the health and performance of all databases, checking for anomalous behavior and performance degradation. Resolve identified incidents.

  • Update, configure, install, and patch database software as needed to ensure stable and secure database operations.

  • Using standard database tuning methods such as configuration, database indexing and query management, provide database tuning that provides the most efficient use of the database.

  • Review and implement database changes using the current change management processes.

  • Ensure database backup and recovery processes are in good order and backups are completing as planned and available if recovery is needed.

  • Oversee user database access using a least privileges model, giving only enough access that allows the user to complete their work tasks.

Database Planning:

  • Gather and track database storage consumption in order to forecast business database growth and working with the server/storage team, plan capacity increases.

  • Review and recommended changes to vendor support contracts for database support

  • contracts.

  • Plan and implement upgrades to database servers and software with no component

  • more than two versions older than the manufacturer’s current version.

  • Provide technical consulting to project teams for needed buildout, configuration, and

  • utilization of database needs of the project.

Minimum Qualifications:**You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Experience:

  • Installing, administering and monitoring production databases and database servers - Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where installing, administering and monitoring production databases and database servers was part of your primary job functions.

  • Monitoring and tuning the performance of databases, queries and indexes - Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where you regularly monitored and tuned the performance of databases, queries and indexes as part of your primary responsibilities.

  • Developing procedures and controls to ensure database security, integrity and availability - Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where you developed procedures and controls to ensure database security, integrity and availability.

  • Resolving complex database problems - Typically gained by a minimum of two years of full-time work experience where you resolved complex database problems as part of your primary job functions OR at least one year of full-time work experience where you resolved various level-three database escalation tickets as your primary job responsibility.

  • Training and mentoring staff throughout the organization on the effective and secure use of data - Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where training and mentoring staff throughout the organization on the effective and secure use of data was part of your primary job responsibilities.

  • Database resource planning - Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where database resource planning was part of your primary job responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of complex computing environments.

  • Understanding the interoperability of all the components of the computer infrastructure and how they connect and work with each other to provide value to the end user.
