Summary:

The mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect a community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. IDOC’s Training & Development staff serve a vital role in helping the agency achieve its mission.

IDOC is currently seeking a qualified candidate to join our Training and Development Team to serve as a Curriculum Program Supervisor. The Curriculum Program Supervisor is integral in the development of new and ongoing training for staff and overall curriculum architecture within the agency. As such, the selected candidate will be involved in creating curriculum that advances staff success, along with evaluation tools and methods to specifically assess agency impact, behavior transfer, and return on investment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess business, program, and staff training and development needs.

  • Design and/or redesign courses and curriculums to meet IDOC’s diverse business needs.

  • Develop evaluations to determine training impact, behavior transfer, performance feedback methods, and return on investment.

  • Develop course and curriculum content, including but not limited to online/e-learning courses.

  • Create training materials, such as teaching manuals, student guides, instructor presentations, and lesson plans.

  • Train and develop staff in instructional design methods and best practices for instructional delivery.

  • Contribute to the development of strategic training plans for both short and long-term agency goals and objectives.

  • Develop community relationships to leverage external resources to help fill agency needs where internal resources may be insufficient for demand.

  • Confer with state, federal and Department staff on compliance needs to ensure all mandated requirements are considered in the analysis and design of IDOC’s training and development programs.

  • Plan and implement training for special projects.

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate training and development programs.

  • Provide program consultation and coordinate program activities with other Department units, as well as with other agencies and provider/client groups to ensure program effectiveness and fidelity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of management practices.This is typically gained by at least one year of work experience that included all the essential elements of management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling); OR completion of two upper division college-level courses; OR 60 hours of management training that included all the essential elements of management AND six months of work experience performing all the elements of management.

  • Experience developing procedures and/or monitoring a budget . Typically gained by at least one year of experience developing procedures and/or monitoring a budget that included allocating expenditures, reconciling accounts, and making fund transfers, or supervising these functions.

  • Experience supervising staff. Typically gained by at least one year of experience being responsible for interviewing and selecting staff, providing work direction and training, evaluating performance, and generating employer problem solving solutions.

  • Experience providing liaison with customer/provider groups. Typically gained by at least one year of experience working with one or more community groups of adults or providing liaison with customers and/or provider groups in a leadership role to share information, coordinate efforts, and/or achieve shared goals.

  • Experience interpreting federal or state regulations. Typically gained by a year or more of experience interpreting and applying rules, policies, and procedures related to program operations to ensure compliance with state and federal laws; OR through explaining to others how laws, regulations, or policies apply to specific situations.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience performing training needs assessments, developing curriculum, and presenting and evaluating training.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher education level) in Instruction/Curriculum (or similar/related field) and at least two years related work experience; OR equivalent education and/or related work experience totaling five years analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating adult training and development programs.

  • Experience developing evaluation measures for capturing transfer of learning, measuring impact, and calculating return on investment.
