Micron has an outstanding TEM lab under Technology Development (TD) at its Headquarters located in Boise, Idaho. We have the most advanced TEMs available in the electron microscope field and state-of-art focused ion beam (FIB) machines for the preparation of TEM specimens. TEM lab is designing novel workflow and its specialized automation solutions to achieve next-level efficiency, accuracy and precision of sampling and data quality.

With the scaling down for next generation memory devices and fast-facing development environment, it requires advanced knowledge of semiconductor industry background, FIB hands-on experience with any type of computing language coding events. The candidate will be assigned for advanced FIB techniques to create automated TEM sample preparation process and support next generation DRAM development in TD. This opening will be focusing on FIB operation, advanced TEM sample preparation, and FIB TEM sample automation development on semiconductor devices. In addition, your growth opportunities include developing your knowledge of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and processing and various characterization techniques. Successful candidates for this position will be placed at corresponding level based on previous experience and education.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform daily FIB operation to support new technology development at Micron from wafer receiving, wafer management, maintaining systems ready for operation to sample-to-data completion.

  • Prepare high quality TEM samples using FIB and connect with customers to obtain the required information for sample preparation.

  • Develop templates and recipes to automate TEM sample preparation of various DRAM part type through collaboration with industry and internal engineering teams.

  • Innovate new FIB techniques or embrace sophisticated FIB techniques to meet customer’s special needs.

  • Develop or embrace solutions to improve the efficiency of sample preparation.

  • Provide detailed pass down to the people in next shift to make smooth shift transition.

  • Make contributions to optimize the existing Lab procedures and maintain the lab environment within the scope of safety requirement.

  • Train colleagues to use validated solutions in sample preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Skilled experience and proven knowledge in FIB operation are preferred.

  • Experience in automation or scripting and programming skills using Python, C, etc.

  • Experience in machine vision and pattern recognition

  • Background in materials science, physics or chemistry, data analysis, and computer science or related field.

  • Creative and proactive to solve problems in fast-facing dynamic work environment.

  • Experience in creative problem solving and innovative solutions.

  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and hardworking in learning new technology and knowledge.

  • Be a phenomenal teammate to work with other FIB & TEM engineers and processing groups to advance the technology development.

  • Positive and ambitious attitude with effective oral and written communications.

  • Familiarity with TEM and its operation is a plus.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate degree and above in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related engineering field. We focus on candidate’s practical ability over degrees.
