The primary responsibility of the clinical faculty involves teaching students in both academic and clinical settings, supervising clinical experiences, and engaging in professionally related community service. While they may, they are not required to participate in research or scholarship activities as part of their regular assignment. The successful candidate will be nationally certified as a family nurse practitioner and have a background in nurse practitioner education. The candidate should also be technologically competent and able to use technology to deliver effective education.

This position will be responsible for facilitating clinical placements for graduate nurse practitioner students. This job will involve identifying and negotiating appropriate clinical placement settings and preceptors for graduate students. The clinical placement coordinator will arrange all aspects of the clinical experience including identifying the need for new contracts with potential clinical agencies and/or preceptors and assuring compliance with contractual agreements. The clinical placement coordinator will work closely with staff to ensure compliance with background checks, health/immunization requirements, licenses, and drug screens as appropriate.

The ideal start date for this position is August 2024 or January 2025. This online, hybrid position is a remote position, however, the candidate may be required to travel to the Boise State Campus for annual meetings and for summer intensives. This position will require approximately 50% workload allocated to coordinating clinicals, 40% to teaching, and 10% to service to the School of Nursing.

Department Overview

At Boise State University School of Nursing, we prepare nurse practitioner students to provide caring, holistic, and high-quality care to diverse populations while also facilitating the development of leadership and interprofessional skills. Our experienced faculty and dedicated staff are focused on academic excellence, high-touch student services, meaningful scholarly pursuits, and engagement with our nursing community. In addition to our Nurse Practitioner DNP Program, we offer a prelicensure program and an online RN-BS. We house an accredited Simulation Center that produces a robust program of research. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree or intent to enroll in a doctoral program within 6 months of hire
  • National Certification (ANCC, AANP, AACN, ACNP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse Practitioner with prescribing privileges in Idaho
  • Technologically competent; able to use technology to deliver effective education.
  • Excellent computer-based organizational skills
  • Excellent public relations skills in-person and online

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Online or hybrid teaching experience.
  • Experience creating experiential learning activities.
  • Graduate-level teaching experience.
  • Nurse practitioner experience providing care across the lifespan

Position Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate effective online and in-person (summer intensives) teaching.
  • Identify and arrange appropriate clinical placement settings and preceptors for student clinical experiences.
  • Foster partnerships with healthcare organizations to support student clinical placements and collaborative projects.
  • Ensure clinical facility contracts are current.
  • Ensure student and faculty compliance standards are met for ach clinical placement.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to ensure the program meets accreditation standards, prepares students for certification exams, and maintains consistency between tracks.
  • Maintain active clinical practice with patients across the lifespan to stay current with clinical trends and practices.
  • Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating clinical excellence and professionalism.
  • Maintain license(s) in the assigned respective states.
  • Maintain all health requirements required by school and clinical agencies.
  • Participate in activities promoting personal and professional educational growth.
