The Director Rentals is responsible for leading the Rental Division for Energy Systems nationwide. This person will be a member of the Energy Systems senior management team and will be accountable for strategy, developing CAPEX business cases, increasing profitable revenue, managing fleet assets, achieving customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and growing market share. This position reports to the President of Energy Systems.

Major Responsibilities

  • P&L responsibility for the Rental Division of Energy Systems nationwide. Develop and execute the rental business strategy to profitably increase market share, expand existing business relationships, meet growth expectations, and deliver the budgeted bottom-line return.

  • Lead the Outside Sales team to drive growth of Rental Agreements

  • Hire, develop, and lead team members.

  • Define key business drivers’ metrics

  • Evaluate the market and identify opportunities for growth

  • Improve asset utilization of the rental fleet.

  • Develop relationships with vendors for improved re-rent opportunities.

  • Manage contracts and relationships with key rental accounts

  • Hold the team accountable to expectations while driving processes and metrics that influence positive customer experiences.

  • Analyze and review all rental assets to determine utilization, financial return, and overall performance. Improve return on rental assets and ensure new assets acquired meet minimum benchmarks. Manage rental fleet utilization and maximize useful economic life to determine the best window for retirement and remarketing.

  • Create, update, and maintain division policies and procedures to achieve customer satisfaction, revenue, cost control, and safety goals.

  • Assure equipment and facilities are maintained, improved, and managed to support excellent operational capability, performance, and reputation.

  • Engage with the other Executive Team Members to develop cross-divisional strategies to serve our customers.

  • Provide services, advice, and guidance to departments about best serving their external customers by maintaining a “serve” mindset. This includes working cross-functionally to ensure alignment and execution of business strategies across all departments, sales, service, rentals and engineering.

  • Ensure the Rental Division complies with all contractual obligations, laws, and regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Work Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in the power generation distribution or rental field

  • 5+ years’ experience leading teams across multiple branches

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Successful experience in a related outside sales role is preferred.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Experience with MS Office applications.

  • Strong math and analytical skills

  • Problem-solving and making logical decisions.

  • Teamwork; works effectively cross functionally with management and customers

  • Strategic/Change Leadership; Managing departmental change, budget and business strategy

  • Strong leadership skills with a “hands on” philosophy

  • Communication; effectively communicates with team members and management.

Compensation :

Energy Systems is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual pay range for this role if based in California is $141,000/year - $215,000/year. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
