Description

We are currently searching for an analytical and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for various billing duties, such as preparing and submitting bills to insurance companies, managing patient accounts, and resolving any discrepancies and billing issues. Their duties will also include keeping track of unpaid accounts, identifying and resolving patient billing complaints, and routinely collecting patient and billing information.

Responsibilities:

• Translate patient information into the appropriate format for medical billing.

• Prepare and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.

• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.

• Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.

• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.

• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtain any missing information.

• Update billing software with rate changes.

• Check insurance payment discrepancies and audit patient accounts.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

• Process payments from insurance companies and prepare and submit reports.

  Requirements

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent of experience and knowledge.

• Proficiency in medical terminology and a strong understanding of health insurance policies.

• Proven experience as medical biller or similar role.

• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.

• Strong knowledge of billing software and electronic medical records.

• Demonstrated skills in accuracy and attention to detail.

• Excellent data-entry skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Familiarity with ICD-10 Codes and procedures.

• Certifications in medical billing or coding would be a plus.
