Position Summary:

The Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University welcomes applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the fields of Substance Use Disorders, Maternal Health, or Interprofessional Practice in Health Care. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2025.

On average, our school has 700 Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students, making it the largest BSW program in Florida. Our Master of Social Work (MSW) program has nearly 350 students, and our Doctor of Social Work program admits a tight-knit cohort of approximately 15 students each year. We proudly offer highly respected academic programs and certificates, as well as research and community-engagement centers (e.g., Healthy Aging Academy, Child Welfare Institute, Office of Professional Development and Robin Rubin Center for Happiness and Life Enhancement). Applicants should be prepared to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and to mentor doctoral students.

The Sandler School of Social Work is particularly interested in applicants with teaching, practice and/or research experience with underserved individuals, families and communities. Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Social Work, DSW, or earned doctorate in a closely related field (all-but-dissertation doctoral candidates who are close to completion will be considered)

• MSW from an accredited school of social work and a minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience

• Demonstrated excellence in writing, communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research in the areas of Substance Use Disorders, Maternal Health, and/or Interprofessional Practice in Health Care.

• Demonstrated commitment to the core values of the social work profession

• Experience working directly with people from population demographics reflective of our region

• Demonstrated commitment to scholarship through a record of scholarly publications, capacity for obtaining funded research, and teaching effectiveness

The selected candidate for this position is required to submit an official transcript sent directly from the institution for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
