Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Metallurgist with a focus in cold rolled steel sheet or galvanized sheet steel experience. Principal duties of the successful candidate will include:

• Participating in safety and housekeeping efforts
• Lead process optimization activities, both quality and cost
• Provide technical support and training for all operational activities
• Utilizing statistical process control tools to direct continuous improvement activities
• Working closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure continuous improvement

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have metallurgical knowledge and 5 years minimum experience with steel sheet products
• Must have experience handling claims and interfacing with customers
• Bachelor\'s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent steel production experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems
• Experience with coordinating and executing trials, dispositioning material, reporting data, and improving quality
• Experience as a mill metallurgist
• Experience with customer support, both internally and externally
