Braun Intertec Safety Director in Bloomington, Minnesota

The Safety Director is an integral part of the Company's enterprise risk management efforts. The Safety Director is responsible for leading the development and implementation of an effective Company-wide safety strategy. This role ensures that safety policies, practices, and programs are fully integrated across all operations to minimize risk, protect employees, and ensure regulatory compliance. The Safety Director will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Leadership, and other departments to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership and Program Development/Oversight: * Develop and execute the Company's long-term safety vision and safety strategy in alignment with Company goals and enterprise risk management objectives; safety strategy must positively impact Company EMR and TRIR performance. * Identify key leading and lagging safety metrics; identify appropriate goals, track progress, and communicate factors leading to or constraining progress across organization for all established safety metrics. * Lead the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs across all business units. * Track, monitor, and assess the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making recommendations for and implementing improvements as needed. Safety Culture and Training: * Promote a culture of safety by leading initiatives to enhance safety awareness, attitudes, and behavior at all levels of the organization and which extend to the homes and communities in which we live. * Oversee the development and delivery of safety training programs, ensuring that all employees receive appropriate and timely safety education. Compliance, Risk Management, and Regulatory Matters * Ensure compliance with local, state, federal safety regulations, including OSHA, client expectations, and other relevant standards. * Ensure that the Company's safety practices meet or exceed (when required or beneficial) regulatory requirements and industry standards. * Oversee the management of safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and tracked. * In collaboration with the General Counsel and other risk management colleagues, assist with property and casualty claims reporting and management; including establishing Company programs to prevent property and casualty claims. * In consultation with the General Counsel, serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies on safety matters and governmental inquiries. Incident Management: * Oversee Company incident reporting and response protocol and the necessary culture to support it. * Lead investigations into serious incidents and accidents, ensuring thorough analysis and implementation of corrective measures. * Develop strategies to prevent reoccurrence of incidents and minimize their impact on operations. Reporting and Communication: * Report on safety performance, metrics, and incidents to the executive leadership team; including progress to recognize and celebrate, as well as gaps and issue that need to be addressed. * Communicate safety policies, changes, and initiatives effectively across the organization. * Oversee all reporting required of client safety databases, responses to client or industry pre-qualification requests or requests for proposals, and any other client requests. Budget and Department Management: * Supervise, mentor, and develop all members of the safety team; including designated Company Safety Representatives which may not have a direct reporting relationship to the Safety Director. * Develop and manage the safety budget, ensuring efficient use of resources for safety programs and initiatives. * Allocate resources effectively to support safety initiatives and address emerging safety needs. * Oversee Safety Department systems that that ensure all safety-related documentation and records are accurately maintained and readi y accessible. Continuous Improvement: * Stay current with industry trends, emerging safety technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the Company's safety performance. * Lead efforts to innovate and enhance Company-wide safety processes and technologies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent four-year degree in a related field required. Experience and/or Training: 10+ years professional experience working as a safety professional; experience in the architectural, engineering, and construction industry preferred; 5 years in a safety leadership role preferred. Licenses/Certificates: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), strongly preferred; valid driver's license with excellent driving record required. Technology/Equipment: Proficient using Adobe DC Professional and Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint; able to access and successfully navigate other software platforms typical in the architectural, engineering, and construction industries (e.g., client safety databases). Work/Environment and Travel: * This position is required to work in the corporate headquarters on average four days per week and may work from a remote location one day per week when work conditions allow. * The environment is primarily an office environment, however, the position is required to regularly travel to other Company offices and project sites. * The office environment includes, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties; frequent interruptions throughout day likely; project site visits can be outside in all weather conditions and/or tightly enclosed areas and can have uneven walking surfaces. * Position requires offsite travel (locally and throughout United States), typically 15-20% annually.
