Cook Medical Quality Engineering Intern in Bloomington, Indiana

Overview

The Quality Engineering Intern may be involved in projects in the following areas: Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Process Validation, CAPA/ Complaint, Metrology, Inspection Methods, Test Method Validation, or Polymer Engineering.

This position is a 12-week paid internship located in Bloomington, Indiana. In addition to their hourly wage, interns receive a one-time housing stipend. Interns work full time onsite and have access to an onsite cafeteria, fitness center, learning events, and more. The internship is offered for a period extending from mid-May through mid-August (exact dates are mutually agreed upon, dependent on school calendars). Interns are assigned a direct mentor with whom they will work closely. Interns present a capstone presentation at the conclusion of their internship to site leadership. All internships provide hands-on experience with meaningful projects in the Medical Device Component/ Plastics/ Extrusion/ Injection Molding Manufacturing Industry.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize engineering knowledge and problem solving skills to produce project deliverables and accurate, appropriate documentation

  • Must possess excellent Excel and general computer skills

  • Must have an aptitude for gaining “hands on” understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Must adhere to the Quality Management System (QMS) and its processes to meet FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and other applicable regulatory requirements

  • Must work and interact effectively and professionally with others throughout various levels of the global organization

  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills

  • Must have the ability to work in both collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision

  • Must have the ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations

  • Must prioritize work appropriately based on assigned goals while maintaining company quality and quantity standards

  • Must strictly adhere to safety requirements

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

  • Must maintain all training requirements for the position, while seeking out opportunities for continuous development and growth

Qualifications

  • Candidates should be students entering their Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year the following fall semester or entering graduate school; candidates who graduate the spring semester before this internship are also eligible.

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.

  • All candidates must provide proof of enrollment (including pre-registration certification for the following fall) for consideration

  • Disciplines considered include: Chemical Engineering, Plastics or Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
