Full time, 3 days a week together from our Digital hub in either Birmingham, Leeds or Manchester (flexible 2 days remote wherever).

This position sits within the Consumer arm of BT, which is the largest provider of consumer mobile and fixed communication services in the UK, with over 25 million subscribers, and more than 450 stores on the high street.

Three brands sit under BT’s Consumer division: the flagship Consumer brand is EE, together with BT and Plusnet. All working in harmony to provide broadband, home phone, mobile, gaming, TV and entertainment services.

The immediate assignment:

In this job, you’ll be accountable for crafting digital experiences that meet user needs but also business goals. You will independently undertake and execute advanced, iterative and user centred product design activities, ensuring that BT’s products and features are of the highest level of craft and execution, easy to use, and deliver experiences that create value for customers.

You'll have the following accountabilities:

  • Delivering initiatives to improve the user experience of a product from conception to launch in partnership with product managers, engineers, researchers and content designers

  • Contributing to strategic decisions around the future direction of BT’s products and product design strategy

  • Driving the design of end-to-end user flows and experiences within BT’s design systems and/or standards

  • Crafting new or complex digital-first experiences that achieve commercial goals such as increased digital channel share and have clear commercial impact

  • Building meaningful internal relationships, contributes to a culture of design excellence and promotes a user-centred way of working

  • Advocating for customer needs, overseeing that designers and squads are designing solutions that solve real customer needs

  • Implementing continuous improvement opportunities to improve the design team processes, ensuring a consistent and coherent process to manage design quality and collaboration across squads

  • Championing, continuously developing and sharing with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in customer experience such as customer problems and ensures that the squads are sharing ideas and insights

  • Mentoring other product designers, helping to improve the team’s craft and meet ambitions as well as act as a technical resource

You'll have the following skills & experience:

  • You have a strong portfolio of work demonstrating a user centred and data driven design approach

  • Successful track record of delivering end-to-end design projects within an AGILE, multi-disciplined delivery team

  • Proven commercial experience of accessibility management considerations, effective user journey mapping and wider strategic vision around user experience

  • Expert in user experience influenced interaction design and user interface design (UX/UI) – Preferably following LEAN principles

  • Demonstrable understanding of user centred research (focus groups, workshops) and the ability to use that data to influence the creation of elegant prototypes
