Occupational Summary:CAD Technician works directly with the engineering department, estimators, project managers and outside engineering professionals to coordinate and execute various aspects of in-house design project plans. Duties include, but are not limited to, computer aided drafting, examining engineering drawings, computing estimated quantities associated with heavy civil construction projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Generate digital drawings and schematics based upon design drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with outside professional engineers regarding specific project designs.
• Maintain standard CAD drawing files.
• Coordinate document distribution and revision history both internally and externally.
• Provide technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications and calculations made by professional engineers.
• Work with project team to produce workable detail drawings.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 2-4 years experience working in computer aided drafting (CAD) preferred; experience in the heavy civil construction industry preferred.
• Experience with construction drawings and specifications preferred.
• Excellent computer skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Bluebeam Revu required.
• Experience with Bentley Microstation CAD is required and must be demonstrated.
